Old Abit IS7 crashed and burned!!

I am not sure what happened, a power surge, or to much time without a fan on the chipset, but it is fried. The fans kept burning out and the pins kept popping out. Then it froze and when I popped open the case the heat sink was lying there, no telling for how long this time. I took it to someone more knowledgeable than I and because the hard drives were frozen never to open again, he thought it was a surge, who knows. The processor, ram and everything else seem to be okay. So my question is, is there anywhere I can buy an IS7 board I'm sure will be alright? I have been told that they are far and few between. If that is true, could I transfer my stuff to another board such as an IS7 G, E, or M or whatever? Or is there another solution that would work? Thank you!

It doesn't have to be an IS7 board. Any socket 478 motherboard should be compatible with your CPU and RAM. But make sure your PSU is OK because if there was a surge then the PSU may have been either the cause of it or damaged from it as well and causing the damage to the motherboard.

I would check ebay and computer geeks. Any board with the same chipset might let you avoid a fresh windows install; depending on your windows version.
