All these people need to go back to the country they came from. I'm using the slur they always use against black people. They cannot be trusted to be in charge of education.

Does this mean a geologist has to believe the earth is 7000 years old?

Regardless of the subject or grade they teach, they'll have to show they know "the biological differences between females and males" and that they agree with the state's American history standards, which includes elements of a conspiracy theory that the Democratic Party stole the 2020 presidential election from President Donald Trump, which fact checkers have said are false.

That was Arkansas. The state in question here is Oklahoma. Oklahoma has a senator named Mark Wayne

It’s easy to get them confused for the whack jobs they elect.
Ahem, I believe it's Markwayne, even dumber than splitting up the two names.

Umm, are there even any teachers from NY and CA that is willing to work in OK?
I frankly can't believe that roughly 4 million people are willing to live in Oklahoma at all, much less work there.

Hands down the worst state I've ever set foot in and I've been to a lot of southern states. (although not Mississippi, as I hear that is the shithole of all shitholes)

Ahh yes, the Senator who doesn’t wear a seatbelt when driving his lifted Jeep around DC “because of carjacking risks”.
I wish he'd explain that more, because I don't get it. He doesn't want to be "stuck in his vehicle" during a carjacking, which to my understanding generally involves someone threatening violence to get you out of your car so they can take it. Like, is he worried he won't be able to get out fast enough to satisfy the carjacker, or he wants to be able to get out and... do some hero shit?

He's probably thinking of the carjacking where someone gets in on the passenger side and takes the driver hostage.

Defeat that method with one simple trick: locking your doors.

All the Chrysler/Stellantis products I've been involved with post-2004 automatically locked the doors once you exceed something like 4MPH, so there's that.

Well, if a representative is meant to be representative of his constituency...
Republicans spent decades attempting to one-up their right-wing colleagues in their primaries, such that they went from electing demagogues who knew better but were pretending to be insane to just electing insane idiots directly.

OMG…from the Guardian article on this topic:

“News about the Oklahoma public education system’s America First certification came after Walters grappled with allegations from colleagues that they saw images of nude women on a television in his office during a closed-door work meeting.

Walters vehemently denied the allegations. The Oklahoma state house speaker, Kyle Hilbert, said that a subsequent preliminary investigation determined that the TV at the time was tuned to a channel that was playing a 1985 Jackie Chan film named The Protector, which does contain scenes with nudity. Hilbert said that finding evidently ruled out intentional display of inappropriate content by Walters as well as false reporting by the colleagues.”

So Oklahoma’s superintendent of public education was watching a movie during what was supposedly a “closed-door work meeting”??? How is that better??

Dude—this was me when I saw that clip on ‘Last Week Tonight’. It’s like saying, “I don’t wear a life vest on boats because of sharks”.

See for yourself:

My bad…I said he drove a lifted Jeep, but on closer inspection it looks like the standard Rubicon Recon package.

Here’s Markwayne Mullin braving the crime-ridden streets of DC. Surprised he’s not wearing a tactical vest at minimum.
