Just because I know you all love this story

From here
Dispute with Pac-10 could affect Oklahoma-Washington series

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma would consider canceling its game at Washington in 2008 if the Pacific 10 Conference doesn't change its rule requiring league officials to be used at its home stadiums, Sooners coach Bob Stoops said Tuesday.

The Sooners lost 34-33 at Oregon on Saturday, and Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen has since said that two incorrect calls by the league's officials on Oregon's behalf changed the outcome of the game.

On Monday, Oklahoma president David Boren sent a letter to Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg asking him to pursue having the Pac-10 remove its officiating policy.

"I think there's no question that (athletic director) Joe Castiglione and I and President Boren, if that rule is not changed that we may reconsider that game, and I think it's justified. We'll look into that."

That's pretty much the most awkward quote I've ever seen, but you get the gist

What a bunch of pussies. Before their last game, Oklahoma was 6-0 vs Oregon, and never once complained about officials. After one bad game, they're ready to abandon the PAC-10?

Or are they just scared of playing Washington?

Why play when the deck is stacked against you?

What a bunch of pathetic whining bitches. As if they'd have to worry about Washington even IF the PAC-10 officials were making biased calls.

While I agree they were bad calls, that doesn't change the fact that OU could have won the game by:

1) Making that last second field goal
2) Scoring a touchdown from inside the 5 to put it away
3) Not giving up a 30yd TD to a completely wide open WR to let Oregon go ahead

They didn't have a problem playing in previous years.

The officials from the Oregon game are suspended.

The officiating in the Washington game would be so closely monitored for discrepencies by NCAA officials (after the Oregon debacle), that I doubt any referee would risk their career by making incredibly bad calls.

I think OU is just using the threat of cancelling the Washington game as a way to push their agenda.

I should have said "It sounds to me like they're really pissed off in Norman, OK." :p. I was just stating an opinion based on yesterday's article about voiding the game, and this article about cancelling The game against Washington.

although its not the same, its sort of karma, bob stoops whined and b*tched with the media for their votes in the ap poll (mack brown did the same 2 years back) to deny pac 10 teams bcs bids. I guess he is on the receiving end now. The calls were bad but they could have still not given up the big plays at the end and won the game.

OU fans are just going to have to get over it. It happens. Michigan got jobbed in the Alamo Bowl last year.. Missed calls, bad flags, replays that were blown.. Nevermind half of the Nebraska team on the field for the final play. The officiating for that game was as bad as I had ever seen. But you know what? You get over it.

I think a lot of this is due to delusional OU fans who think that their team has any shot at a national championship. You don't. Losing this game didn't cost you a shot at it. While I agree that OU got jobbed in this game, there is nothing that you can do about it.

Why is a blown call towards the end of the game worse than a blown call towards the beginning or middle of the game?

You may not be aware of this, but outside of Oklahoma (and Texas), the percentage of people who make college football their lives is somewhat less than 100 :)

In a case like this you can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that it changed the outcome of the game. With a blown call in the middle of the game you can't say that with any reasonable degree of certainty, because you can't assume the whole rest of the game would play out in a certain way.

Definitely Bad Calls

But...OU gave up 14 in the final minutes of the game and got a FG blocked.

USC didn't bitch about bad calls/reviews in the Rose Bowl. Why? Because USC knows they lost the game on 4th and 1 and on 4th and goal...bottom line. Texas won and they deserved it.
