All right, I don't know if it's my motherboard or what, but ever since I've had this machine it has a similar problem crop up like ever 4-6 months. It just stops booting correctly, and before long it just restarts over and over, turns on by itself, blue screes, everything.

I've got an MSI KT4 Ultra motherboard - and I've reformatted my hard drive and even gotten completly new ones at least three or four times since I've had the machine. What is wrong with it? It is a BIOS bug? Going into the recovery console and rewriting the boot sector seems to fix it temporarily, but four months later its back.

AAAArrrrrgggh!!!

Can you say spyware ???? I have to reformat my sons machine every six months due to that......

It can't be spyware - it's the same dang thing every time...wipes out my computer for days every time, and I pretty much have to reinstall windows everytime.

have you done memtest yet? (as was mentioned above)

besides possible memory errors it also sounds like it could be power supply related

So there's no spyware at all on the machine?
