*~*Okay, Spill the Beans: How Do You Pay for This Addiction?*~*

I mix it up. If it's under $150, then I pay for it with cash (straight debit from check card). If it's over $150 or I have to buy it in bunches, I charge it to the old plastic. Right now my credit bill is near $1,000...and that was for a rig I built last year (for the 'rents). Now I'm looking at another $1,000 for my new rig.

Do any of you guys actually save up money or do you pull out the plastic to grab the latest and greatest video card?

I never purchase any PC components / software / systems that I can't pay for when the bill arrives. I refuse to pay 18 - 25% interest on a credit card. I use the credit card to get fraud protection and delay paying the bill until the end of the month, but I always pay the bill then.

BOTH!

I usually save up the money for what i want but then break down and go for the "cool/better stuff" when its time to buy, thus scewing my budget and making me break out the plastic to cover the difference!

You are quite right you are not supposed to try to sell items on this forum. If you want to do that go to our For Sale/Tread forum. Before you post there, please read all of the rules for that forum, including that you MUST enable showing your profile and email address.

i managed to put $2000 on my credit card with various things including computer parts which make up the majority of them. i'm not trying to put any more on so everything i've been buying lately is on my checkcard. going to pay half of it off next paycheck =0

LOL! I always end up slamming at least $100 to whittle away the credit debt each pay period.

I'm a plastic guy. i usually have it paid for in 3 months or less though. but i neeeeeed stuff. you're so dead-on about the addiction thing, heh.

I use the old plastic but its always paid off in the grace period so there is no interest.
The only reason i use the card is to get the free money for using the card.
Buying something you can't afford and really don't need is like sending out a post saying please email me all your virus, trojans, and malware so I can test my systems defenses. Its just plain stupid.

when blackinches was younger blackinches used the credit cards to buy parts and let the debt sit there for a while. but now the older blackinches uses the credit card and pays off the balance at the end of the month. thankfully blackinches has low interest rates on the credit cards.

If you pay them off each month it doesn't matter what the interest rate is.

I stopped using CCs to buy stuff ..pretty recently too. I just paid off a $1000 card and closed it and have $450 left on another card and it too will be closed after its paid.

I put all of my purchases on my Discover card, on which I automatically get 1% cash back, and then pay the bill off every month... I never carry a balance, no matter how high the bill gets... so I guess it's basically like paying cash for it.

Wonderful feeling being completely debt free 🙂 !

I save 100-120 dollars a month for system upgrades and incidental expenses (Car Repair). Having a good job helps and prioritizing and penny pinching helps too.

I never buy anything I do not have the money for and I always make sure I have plenty left over after I make my purchase.
