I have been wondering exactly how they were going to implement the lock. it seems they actually physically removed the Pins.

The motherboard is now unable to assert control over the multiplier.

Don't fret too much. All you need now is a conductive pen and a swiss army knife.

You need to short out certain resistors on the side of the L1 pins in order to override the locked multiplier. This requires either souldering or a conductive pen. I don't think Pencil will work here, but it might be worth a try...

I'm going to see if I can do some experimenting and get an update on the OC-TIPs at www.bxboards.com

I think that picture is a fake.

Look at the warranty sticker. It shows July of 2000. That means his cpu could ONLY be week 28, he's claiming the pin removal started week 31. By that reasoning, there is no way possible this picture can be real.

I did a few tests. I don't think a pencil will cut it here.

the lowest resistance I Could get out of a pencil line that could short the resistor was 5.5k ohms. It would have to be less than 200 ohms or so to be effective I believe. so... conductive pen it is!
