I rather work at a job doing some I love and getting paid mediocre then doing something I hate and getting paid well.

Thankfully I have a job I love and it pays well. But I know I am in the minority on that

it's not my fault the entire printed media industry fell apart while I was in school :(

I originally majored in English Lit wanting to be an editor at a major publishing house... zoom forward to graduation and half of them are going out of business and you couldn't get a foot in the door at the other half without a family connection.

For general hiring purposes I assume most employers care more about the number of years needed for a degree than what subject it was in. Notice I said general, I know many jobs require specific degrees or at least are bias toward them.

Right now I'm majoring in Graphic Design. I'm certainly not going to be making six figures at any point in my career, but I could do reasonably well for myself.

I could have majored in something else like IT, or gone to med/law school and made the big bucks, but I at least know that 30 years from now I won't hate my job.
