I'd love to get a pilot license myself, and fly a (small) plane around as i wish, but I know that unless there's some upcoming miracle in my life, I'll always have other, more urgent things to spend my money on (not that they're that many to begin with!)

Meanwhile, I'm sure most of the immature pimple farmer of ATOT have wet dreams about having their own airplane, maybe even a jet fighter... and when someone actually gets to fulfill his dreams - and be good at it, too! - they go green with envy and start finding reasons to express their contempt. Some people have a huge sense of entitlement. Notice the stars in the news and then notice that there are many Not in the news. Say, Darrel Hanna or the other lady that moved to Montanna or some such and redid an old ranch or something like that. Happy not being in the spot lite and living somewhat like a normal person. Yea, normal. Not going to parties every night, marriage, divorce, rediculas expenses and expectations, rinse lather repeat. Tom Cruises wife spent $200k at a store in NY last year? Yea, that's how the common man lives.

So no, I have no desire to own a jet. Give me a nice 6000' sq house on a lake, a speed boat, a cruiser, and a cabin somewhere and I am set. If I have $100 mill left over I put some in an account for my kids and then feed the poor, help the single parents, upgrade schools, buy up housing rows in depressed cities and repair them and give them away, etc.

For many it is not all about 'me'.

No, we just hate when people like Travolta lecture us on "doing our part" for "global warming", then he flys his 5 jets anytime he feels like it. He produces more emissions than most of ATOT put together, then claims he has to fly for "business purposes".

Um, no John, you don't. You might need to fly, but you don't need to fly a big-ass Boeing 707 with what....5 people in it, when you could fly on an airline with many others.

This is probably a guy who would criticize me for having a Suburban.
 
Heh. That house is just a few minutes away from my parents vacation house down in florida. Youd be amazed at the wealth down in that part of florida. Most of the people who live in that area raise horses.

Well, for one thing the rich and famous get more press coverage. However, even if you were unknown but doing the same thing as Travolta, I'm sure ATOT would hate you too.

there was a big article on his house in some architecture magazine a while back. it's a beautiful place; very classy and not gaudy like so many "new money" mansions. and come on, a Boeing parked in the back yard? that this guy flies? himself?

style, baby, style.
