True. That was a major selling point of the early Android devices, multi-tasking.

Eh, multitask is important on like a pc with a 20 in screen. Not so much on a device with a 3.5" screen.

So Android tackled the technical challenge of multitasking early, while Apple tackled UI responsiveness. I think Apple made the right choice. Today, I don't really noticed multi-tasking performance improving my experience. At best, I get background downloads.

It straight out was the consumer grade OS.

I find it ironic though, that everyone remembers XP fondly when it was derided and criticized at release. Will perceptions of Vista be different 10 years from now or did Nvidia's shitty drivers forever damn Vista's reputation?

It wasn't just NVidia... Intel's Vista drivers sucked as well. As did HP's printer drivers, and Creative's sound card drivers, and I'm sure there were more.

Even after a year and a ton of driver patches, it never felt as responsive as Windows XP OR Windows 7 on the same hardware. What a bloated mess.

Agreed. Hence the early Android devices were crap compared to iPhone. However Google Nav was so important to me at the time I could not justify the switch. I drooled over the responsiveness of iOS at that time.

Nah. The fondness for XP was in response to what came after XP--Vista. Since W7 was much loved, Vista will get the shaft. With W8, W7 will likely become the new XP...
