Okami Sequel Announced for DS

I was kinda hoping for a console game but it's Okami so I'll take it in any form they want to give to us.

Even though Okami may be my favorite video game of all time, this news leaves me only cautiously optimistic. It's not Clover, after all.

Well, Shigeru Miyamoto didn't work on the original Gameboy Zelda and it is arguably one of the best in the series. Inaba and Kamiya are geniuses at their craft but the right team just might be able to pull this off now that all the mechanics are set. I just worry that in making it more available, the game will loose the charm of the original. Hopefully it stays a T-Rated game.

IIRC, he was in the credits. 😕

Link's Awakening? No, he wasn't involved in it beyond creating the concept. It was directed by Takashi Tezuka. He worked with Miyamoto on a lot of other games but not this one AFAIK.

He is listed in the original credits as "Producer."

I remember reading an article that showed how the roles of Director, Producer, Executive Producer, etc align between film, television, and video games, but here's the definition of "Video Game Producer" as far as Wikipedia is concerned:

"A video game producer is the person in charge of overseeing development of a video game."

AFAIK, that's exactly what he did in the majority of his projects... just "over saw" and added input so that he could "oversee" multiple projects simultaneously.

No need to be snitty. I'm just going by the info I have. We can't all have an encyclopedia knowledge of the Zelda series. Anyway, this is extremely off topic now.

Capcom has released a short teaser trailer of Okamidan showing gameplay. Looks pretty decent. They've managed to keep the art style fairly true to the original.

I wish it was on consoles, but I guess it is better than nothing.

Still, it isn't like this is being made by clover or Kamiya, so *shrug*

...

/me ignores that this is off-topic.

I agree that "Zelda IV: Link's Awakening" was one of the best games in the series. It's definitely my favorite. I enjoyed it far more even than "Zelda III: A Link to the Past" and "Twilight Princess."

I really didn't enjoy "Ocarina of Time" very much and I think it's hugely over-rated. I think all the people who love "OoT" just experienced it before the better games. I think the "OoT" fanatics were mostly new to epic gaming when they played through "OoT."
