<< You need to clean and cauterized the wound. Stuff it with gunpowder and light a match. >>

That would work, but if you don't have the gun powder you should follow these steps:

1. Pick at the would until it is ~ twice the original size
2. If there is any puss be sure to lick it up. You don't want to loose puss or you could die.
3. If you have a pet, let it lick the would.
4. Pick at it some more
5. Eat either a Little Debbie or a Hostess cupcake (this one's important)
6. Pay Pal $15 for the advice (it beats the $200,000 you would pay at the doctor's office)

Why not give your doc a call and ask if it's something he/she thinks needs to be looked at.

You should have licked up the blood and recycled it. That way your body can build up anti-bodies for the future.

You have a rather sizeable vein running on the inside of your leg. It is possible you hit it somehow and damaged it thereby causing the blood to come pouring out of the vein and pooling beneath your skin. The vein healed, but the blood was still there and turned dark due to lack of O2 (as mentioned above).

Basically, like others said, it was a really big blood blister.

If you are talking about the femoral artery, I doubt he would be talking to use right now if he was losing blood from it.

I had a surgery 2 years ago, and I felt a hard lump under one of the incisions. The doctor that performed the surgery was in another state, so I went to my local dermatologist. The cut was only a half inch wide, so the surgeon used a wax to seal the cut. The dermatologist removed the wax and JAMMED a Q-tip into the hole(I jumped a foot off the chair when he did that).

ANYWAY, he sent the blood sample off and I went home. I used a rag and soaked the cut with warm water. I then decided to sqeeze on the cut. When I did, thick, black blood oozed out. When the tests came back, it was determined that I had a staph infection.

Long story short: You could've had a simple rupture under your skin or you could possibly have a staph infection. You might as well go to your doctor or health unit to be on the safe side. If you have med. insurance, then you definetely should...
