Gee, I have always gotten what I ordered, for the price I ordered it at, in a timely fashion. Where is the ripping off?
A free market will soon correct those that do not ask a fair price. Price is also dependent on supply and demand. If the supply is low and the demand high and there are people who fit inside the currect SD curve, someone will buy it.
OK, raise your hands... Who did not sleep through Economics class?
😀
I think it has something to do with charging near double the MSRP
😉 .
Raise your hands, those who've heard this recital of first year economics enough times and are sick of it?
If you didn't sleep through the rest of the year, another thing you learn in first year is
brand recognition and brand trust. Consumers ally themselves with particular brands that have treated them well in the past (ie Newegg), and sometimes go so far as to ignore other brands altogether (yeah, they'd be dumbasses to pay $800 for an X850 XT but maybe they figure Newegg always has the lowest prices).
Newegg is abusing the reputation they have gotten by no longer being agressive out of the door and bumping up prices on high demand items, which is funny because charging the lowest price on high demand prices is what made Newegg so popular in the first place.
Newegg can skim the market with new prices on high demand items, but for how long?
