OK Without Standoffs?

Is it OK to screw a motherboard directly onto a case without standoffs? It seems to function properly, but I'm wondering if this could cause problems or if doing this has already damaged it in some way. The screw holes on the case are raised bumps, so I think adding standoffs would prevent it from fitting into the I/O shield and whatnot..., by the way.

You have to use standoffs . It is a requirement not an option.

I think some cases have "built in standoffs" like bumps or something that make it so you don't have to use them. I have never seen one in person though.

It sounds like he might have built in standoffs on the mobo tray, i have seen that before. Either way you need some kind of standoffs as said above its a requirement not an option.

You're fine, your particular case uses the built-in standoffs. Just make sure that the only parts of the motherboard that are in contact with the case are the screw holes.

Isn't there a manual or something you could refer to?

It sounds like the standoffs are built-in, but I don't think I've actually seen a case like that. I would make sure by looking at the manufacturer's manual for the case or feature list or something. I just don't want to hear you fried your mobo tomorrow....

My case is kind of an hybrid, it has built in standoff's at the bottom half. You don't need separate standoffs if your MB plate is already raised. You also have to make sure that your Motherboard's leads do not touch the surrounding areas. Just as a precaution I shielded them with electrical tape before screwing in my motherboard.
