Ok - Who allows These Guys For Mercury To Be In Cerial Boxes??

I went shopping with my little cousin, he picked out a Kellogs Rice Krispies (which of course comes with a free spyder man toy thingy). I told him it was fine and took it hope.

Later that day I saw the back of the cerial box (box=dark blue). Their was text at the bottom saying (Blue Text).

**2 different styles. Battery and light are not replaceable. Up to 25 hours of battery life. Battery in toy contains mercury. Dispose of properly.

I dont understand why any food administration or regulatory group would allow this. What if this stuff spills, toy breaks.

Pixle.

I think we should also get rid of college ruled paper in schools. I mean, MY GOD, what if someone gets a paper cut!!!!! :Q

Who regulates these people!!!!!

/sarcasm

Was the toy just flopping around inside the box, mingling freely with the cereal?

Or was it contained in some kind of plastic packaging?

I think it's safe for your cousin to eat his cereal.

cheese and rice , the chances of being killed in a car accident are 23,393,784 times higher than somebody being "hurt" by a mercury battery leak from a toy in a cereal box

holy cow, our society is so freaking pampered it is disgusting

Mad Hatters got that way because of mercury. The world would be lesser for getting rid of people like them.

You are good as grammar at Pixel

let's see here.

Scenario 1:
A small amount of mercury oxide powder will somehow manage to fully discharge the battery (becoming mercury), escape the metal case of the battery, trickle down the inside of the toy, escape through a crack, rip a hole in the plastic around the toy, and then leap into a Rice Krispie, there to chortle with glee as it imagines the poor child which will become poisoned upon eating the cereal.

Scenario 2:
Klaus the forklift operator is working at Kellog's when he accidentally manages to spear a carton of cereal. The fork managed to pierce the toy inside, breaking the battery, which once again would have to have been mysteriously discharged first to form liquid mercury. Klaus figures no one will notice the GAPING HOLE in the box, and puts it back on the pallet.
In the supermarket, Pixle is picking out cereal. Despite the GAPING HOLE in the box, he decides to get the Rice Krispies. Maybe he'll get an open box discount! Ignoring the "do not eat if packaging has been tampered with" labeling, he proceeds to feed it to his kid. The toy in the box was broken open and leaking something, but it probably isn't harmful.

A week later, the kid died.

So, which of these scenarios were you worried about?
