Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo

or the

EpoX 8RDA+

hmmmmmm?

anyone got opinions

btw the Epox is 40 bucks cheaper.

I have not used the NF7-s or EpoX 8RDA+ but the Asus A7N8X Deluxe is really nice. It is by far the best motherboard i have laid my hands on. Not a single problem with any of them i have used

Asus, Epox, and Abit are all good brands. Get what has the features you need and the right price.

Here's how it goes: all 3 are stable and fast and good, yadda yadda.
The EPoX is cheapest because though it has firewire, USB2, AGP8X, ATA133, nForce sound, 10/100, etc, it lacks a second 10/100, SATA, and digital nForce sound output.

The Asus has that talking voice diagnostic thingy and SATA, a second 10/100, and digital sound. The Abit has digital sound, a second 10/100, SATA, and even an SATA drive adapter. You take your pick.

Basically, the EPoX is a fine board for those who do not need SATA, digital sound, or two network controllers. It's missing those features, but at 1/3 less cost, why not?

<--Uses an 8RDA+

Sniperruff, yes the EPoX's price is really good, but then again, it's a solid board. I would'nt trust my ~$70 on a Biostar, for example, but EPoX? No prob. Of course, if you need SATA, a talking diagnostic thingy, digital sound, or a second lan, then the EPoX may not be the best choice.

Of course, you can get a FAR 10/100 card or the $20 digital sound bracket if you need any of those and if you're getting the EPoX. So lacking those two things isn't that important. $79 + $20 for digital sound bracket is still under the $115 or so for the NF7-S and the $125 or so for the A7N8X DX.

i remember seeing on hardocp that there is a bad patch of the new 8RDA+ that doesn't OC well at all

if money is an issue then consider other brands as well.

ok thanks guys

the guy I am building it for is some what price budgeted ... also doesn't need the 2nd LAN or SATA control ... so I am thinking Epox.

the rest of the package is

Barton 2500xp
128mb GF4 4200-4600Ti (8x)
OCZ PC3200 DDR 1gb
40-60 gb Maxtor ata133

thanks for the help 🙂
