OK, what type of motorcycle is this?

The other day I noticed a motorcycle with two front wheels, a bit smaller than normal, and one normal size rear wheel. The bike looked pretty conventional otherwise. I only noticed it for a few seconds (it was coming the other way, I was waiting to turn left) so I didn't catch a brand name, etc. but I'm pretty sure about the two wheels.

What kind of bike is this? What possible advantage would two front wheels have?

BTW, this was fairly close to Pratt & Whitney (jet engine mfr) so it quite possibly could have been some engineer-type homebuilt pet project, but other than the two front wheels it looked conventional.

I saw a bunch of these in Paris. It's a small bike / large scooter, I think the third wheel just makes it easier to drive in a city (no tipping when stopped).

Don't remember the make, but there was a ton of them.

(looked fairly conventional, the front wheels were maybe a foot apart)

Thanks guys, I think it might have been the Piaggio. Definately wasn't the Spyder, the front wheels were relatively close together like the Piaggio. It seemed like a full size bike, but I only saw it for a second or two. Definately not your father's Vespa, that's for sure.

Someone near my office building rides one of these. Looks like it wound not be a bad ride if you had a short commute. They are supposed to go up to 70mph, but not sure i would want to get on the highway on one of them.

I've only seen a few of those so far. The front wheels are suppose to lock into position so that even when you're stopped, it won't tip over. It's safer alright, but it's not really a bike anymore.

Strangely enough, I saw one of those Spyder's on my way to work today.......first time ever....go figure!
