but was is bat control... hand/eye coordination? clearly he gets fooled, he has weaknesses for pitches in spots, blatant ones that a person with such a good eye (medical test good eye as per sports illustrates) shouldnt be fooled with... mattingly and boggs defended the plate well, i never heard anyrhing writtrn up about their eyes..

yet all being said, giambi sure walks a lot, and not many are intentional... he gets on base a lot... that takes a good eye i guess.

ah i got it, good eyes (clear sight) does not mean you're born with depth perception... we all vary on this aspect. The worst MLB players in depth perception of fast moving objects are still better than the worst crop of collegiate players.

now i remember another article about depth perception as being the distinction of a MLB caliber human being, just like vertical jump is for NBA caliber individuals.

I wish I had video of Giambi in April vs now.. espn radio mentioned he looks 'big' again... and he is sweating... thats true... 1st inning tonight, his hair at the bottom of his neck is wet already... okay, could be from warmups... and he does this thing where he pops his helmet and wipes his head with his left sleeve followed by the other sleeve... he's just funny to look at.
