I am pretty lonely here in my apartment and I am thinking about getting a cat for company. Well I have my cat at my parent?s house but he has been there a long time. I love him a lot but at my parents he has a very large house and basement to roam around plus he can go outside and hunt animals whenever he wants. If I brought him to live with me he would only be able to walk around my small apartment and not be able to go outside. Now if I got a new kitten he would just get used to being an indoor cat. I would feel bad about betraying my cat Niles though. I guess I could get some fish instead but they are just nice to look at and not for company. I hate dogs and I don't think I can have one anyway so they are not an option.

what about a prairie dog?

seriously though...what do you want to do? It sounds like you want a cat, but you are afraid that your old cat will get offended...I am pretty sure your new cat wont find out about your new one...and if he does, just explain that you and your new cat are just friends

There is that and the fact that I am good friends with my old cat but I don't want him to be miserable in this small apartment when he is used to living in the country.

how 'bout a human? like a girlfriend. That way if you don't like it, at least you can get rid of it.

There are thousands of unrescued dogs/cats in shelters that need homes. Visit your local humane society. We've save 5 terrific dogs that have the most interesting and best personalities I've ever seen in a dog.

I couldnt agree more, We adopted a cat almost a year ago and I cant for the life of me understand why anyone would give this cat up, he is affectionate, playful, QUIET(important to me, hate cats that whine all the time) and all around the perfect cat for us, Adopt a pet!

Well I called my mom and she suggested that I bring my cat down for a week and if he doesn't like it I can get a new kitten.

Sounds like Mom wants to lose the cat.

So I went to the pet store today and talked to a guy and he recommended getting a new cat and then I called my mom up and she said that they decided it would be best for my old cat to stay with them. So I have to find a new kitten. It is $90 to adopt one and $89 to buy one from the pet shop. I checked the classifieds and I found:

KITTENS: To good home, 1 gray male, 1 gray/ white tiger female, $5. Call 517-***-****
KITTENS: 10 wks, cute, playful, adorable, raised w/ kids, litter trained, $35. Call 517-***-****

So I am probably getting a $5 one if they aren't in a bad neighborhood. What do you think now? (Updated Poll).

The pet shop has 1 white kitten, 1 calico kitten and 2 gray tigers.
The adoption place has these.

i like fish

any pet that can't be left alone for 2-3 weeks is too much work

i voted for the $5 budget cat

I got a cat with all shots, she was spayed and very healthy all for a simple 25 dollar donation from an Animal Shelter.

I have had bad experiences from pound animals.

Then why are you even asking?

The adoption place isn't the pound. They are like a foster system or something.

I'd skip the pet-shop kitten option -- save a foster kitten or buy from a private person instead of rewarding someone for intentionally adding to the overpopulation problem.

If the $90 adoption fee includes vet exam, spaying / neutering and shots it might not be a bad deal compared to the free-range kitties.

Well I found some more foster adoption places and some of them sell the cats for $70 wiht all the shots and wormings and give you $25 back after it is spayed/neutered so I might do that because I would have to pay for the shots and worming anyway.
