OR IS THIS NOT ALLOWED, MEAN MODERATOR MAN?

Went to the site, they said they had RedHat 9 ISO's, are't they free? Doesn't that give a legitimate reason for using such software?

Cool - you'll finally get to see her.Are you going to go? I've decided that I'm not going to go to one on this tour because there aren't any locations close to me, and I don't feel like driving. Not to mention I don't think it's a smart move for her to be touring the the US because her album sales are down, so I don't know if she'll be selling out arenas like she did with the rainbow tour. 🙂

It is free but at the time this was posted, they weren't released to the general public yet.

The software has very legitimate uses, and companies would be wise to adopt it. Bit torrent works opposite of the internet in its structure. The more people you have downloading something wtih bit torrent, the faster it goes. Instead of clogging servers with a new trailer, a new patch for a game, a new demo, anything; when something new comes out and has high demand, that demand will be met.

As with any filesharing app (ICQ, mIRC, WinMX) there will be piracy. But the working concept behind bit torrent makes it stand out from the crowd.

just another file sharing platform. on this one, you download the small bt file, which has server info along w/ ways of finding other users w/ the same file that you are downloading to speed up downloading.

after you install BT, you can double click on a saved BT file, or a BT hyperlink and it'll prompt you for a save file location. if you have a partial download already, find that file and it will auto resume, and the prog does the rest of the work. as long as you have the BT window open for a particular file, others can download from you also. (even during your download)

kinda cool in concept, but its annoying how my server info gets out o wack at times and the window clutter when doing multiple dls. you should be able to find all the info needed from the site hosting the bt files, they usually have a tutorial or a faq. it usually works well when the file first comes out since everyone will have their bt window open. the dl's gonna be slower w/ lesser people connected to it..

if you dun like my answer, google it!! ^^

Make you a BJ? How's one do that?

I don't like bittorrent because my speeds always suck. The damn thing won't let you throttle your upload bandwidth, so a common transfer will see me downloading at 3kbps and uploading at 10kbps.

I wouldnt even mind if my download speed was the same as my upload. But the download is always slower!

Only bittorrent is like this for me. With other services my download speeds are fine.

See people say the more people who use it, the faster it goes. In theory this is correct, but when you hook up with a user that has no upload speed... man is it slow for your download from them. Once you're done with that chunk, you hook back up with a seed (as opposed to another user), it flies again...

What is definitely faster, is dispersement of a single file... but that's about all that is guaranteed.

yep... it helps to be on top of things when your using BT. as soon as a tracker comes out, jump on it, will be slow for a bit, after people get on though, i've seen some speeds in my dorm around 280k+/sec 🙂

it's definatly not for someone that is looking for specific files though.
