I'm selling my Seagate Barracudas (2 off 28.5Gb 7200RPM 512kb ATA66) for £240 because I was dissappointed with their performance.

I think this was probably due to the low amount of cache and was wondering what I should get next. At the moment my needs are only 30Gb of hard disk space but you can never have enough. My budget is about £275 but less would be nice. Should I just get the Barracuda 2 with 2Mb of cache or are the IBM 75GXP's better.

With the IBM's is it worth RAIDing them on my promise or should I just buy one bigger drive?

I also have experience that IBM's run considerably hotter than seagate's. Anyone agree?

Definately nothing maxtor due to their crappy RAID figues.

My current plan is to buy ONE IBM 30Gb and add another later when my budget affords it for RAID. Basically I can't decide what I want - what do I want?!
