OK what could cause a computer to just not power up at all? WOL?

It doesnt even beep, or start for even a second. PSU is on, I push the on and nothing... I tried changing out the psu and no change.
The computer worked fine yesterday.
The only thing I have done to it is I hooked up the Wake On LAN wires and tried to send it a wake request, after that it will not power up.
Is there some way for the WOL to be messing something up?

unplug the wires you hooked up from BOTH sides and clear the CMOS. unplug the power cord and use the jumper. if you can't find the clear cmos jumper remove the battery for 10 minutes . again with the power cord removed.
good luck and welcome to ANANDTECH

Thanks for the response
but I already did all that.
I have removed all the pci cards (network card, sound card, ide card)
I put in a different agp card,I tried a different power supply,
I checked to see if the cmos battery was dead or not, its good.
I shorted out the jumper for the cmos and pulled the battery.
I even swapped out the ram just in case.
I am usually pretty dam good at fixing this kind of thing.
I cannot figure out how sending it a wake on lan request could have zapped the motherboard ???
unless I got it with some static, which I doubt because I always ground myself before I touch anything inside the case.
Has anyone ever heard of WOL somehow freezing or shorting out a board?
I dont know that much about WOL so i'm hoping.....

Swap the Clear CMOS jumper the other way round. Some boards come with this in the "clear CMOS" position by default, rather than the "Normal" position.

Next, take the motherboard out of the case and set it up on a milkcrate or something, and try again, with the bare essentials (1 stick of ram, cpu, video card) and see if it powers on. If it does, start adding components one at a time :)

Once you have it started with everything hooked up, put it back into the case, with bare essentials, and try adding things one at a time again.

It's a long process but the only way to do it to eliminate all circumstances :)

oops...

Anyway I think its dead...
I must have accidentally zapped the mobo while installing the wol cable, that is all I can think of.

I pulled the board out of the case and looked for any obvious problems (shorts) ... A OK

I tried to power it up with only ram, cpu and video... NOTHING at all

I would think that the power supply would at least power up, but nothing at all.

Aren't there two wires on the psu that I can short out to power it on and make sure that I'm not frying my power supplies?

or how else would I go about testing the power supplies without plugging them into a board?

I have the very same problem :( Except that I dont know jack about this ort of thing, can anyone help? If there is a short somewhere, does it mean I've fried the motherboard?

There is a LED on the motherboard that still glows, other than that it's like it's been unplugged :(

no. try pulling the mb out of the case and set it on top of the box it came in , or equivalent. start with just the chip , cooler ,vid card ,and memory. see if it will post and go to the bios.
if not , the easiest way is to swap those parts one at a time with another working comp until you find the problem component.
if it posts ok add in ONE item at a time (testing each time) until everything is back , then put it back in the case and start over. also check the case for a standoff or other metallic piece that may have contacted the mb and shorted it.

good luck
