Started last week (quarter system)

PHYS 131 (4 units) 3 hours a week + 3 hour lab - General Physics, easy had AP Physics in high school
MATH 142 (4 units) - Calculus II, easy had AP Calculus in high school
ENGL 149 (4 units) - Technical Writing for Engineers, easy, just do the work
POLS 111 (1 unit) - California Government, easy

13 units, easy quarter, had bad registration time, so pretty much screwed.

Calculus II - This class is one of the first classes to strain my brain when trying to comprehend the information
European History since 1680 - Gonna be piece of cake
English - Argumentative based writing, another piece of cake
Biology II - As long as I go to class and take the notes it should be easy
Calculus-based Physics - Physics with the core fundamentals of calculus mixed in, this class won't be as bad as Calc II

17 credit hours

CS 337 - Theory in Programming Practice
-- should be fun. lots of programming. compression, cryptography, error detection, etc.
EE 313 - Linear Systems and Signals
-- ewww, this is basically differential equations applied to circuits. ewwww
EE 319K - Intro to Microcontrollers
-- should be fun. except we have to program entirely in assembly. blech.
E 316K - Masterworks of Lit: British
-- stupid english requirement. This is pure poetry. :(
CC 302 - Intro to Ancient Rome
-- another stupid requirement, except it will be interesting and not too hard. Lots of reading though.

CIS 1150 - Itro to computers - 3 hrs

Class is going to be a joke, but a pre-req for programming classes. I could test out, but might as well boost the GPA

How much is that going to cost ya?

Oh, school is free for me. Illinois pays my public tuition for 36 months for being a veteran. The federal government gives me $1250 a month to go to school full time for 36 months as well. :p

English 1120 - Elements of Grammar (nice review after being out of the country for two years)

English 3400 - Technical and Professional Writing (these two are semi-linked together, making documents with Word, Photoshop, etc...)

English 3410 - Tehnical Writing Technology

USU1330 - Creative Arts (we watch movies and get credit for it! w00t)

13 credits to ease back into college, and all the English ones are in classes of 20 and in the same room on the same day. It's very convenient!

Macro is easier than micro. Intermediate Macro is much much easier than Intermediate Micro.

Managerial Econ and Intermediate Micro have a lot of overlapping material.

I wish I had never choosen Econ as my minor. Technical Communications(english) would have been a much better choice for me.

Fortunately, my classes are WAAAAAAAY easier than those most of you are taking...:D

Changed my major this semester from Architecture/Drafting to Business Management/Accounting/Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping 1...TOUGH instructor, have our first test next week, moves pretty fast and doesn't like to explain things if someone doesn't understand. So far, ZERO sense of humor.

Business Math (Math 50)...More or less a rehash of "general math" with business applications, percentages, payments schedules, and such. Good instructor. GREAT sense of humor.

Business Law...I had this instructor last semester for Principles of Management. Good instructor, but gives HELL tests. (always allow 3+ hours for the test) BUT, they're open book/open notes, so they're not too bad IF you read/notate your text. Decent sense of humor.

Intro to Environmental Science...Pushed on my by my advisor as "an easy "A", so far, this instructor doesn't seem so easy...pop quizzes every class meeting so far, but he has a decent (but dry) sense of humor, so it should be ok.

Taking the Math 50 class meets the AS degree requirements, but is NOT transferrable to the university level if I decide to do so. The last math class I took was algebra in high school, (1968) and I blew that class off more often than not, so needless to say, I didn't do well. I'm not so sure they haven't changed some of the numbers since then...;) IF I someday decide I want to go on to get a BS, I'll have to take quite a bit of math to do so...:( IIRC, Math 101 is the minimum grad requirement...and that's so far above my head it might as well be written in Mandarin...

Dude...you're like 52...props to you for pursuing other facets of education.

:D...Dude, 52 is in my rear-view mirror!(sheesh, I feel like Crush in "Nemo"...du-ude, 150 and still young!)

Last semester Civil Eng. Undergrad:

Intro. Anthropology: same as last term, now onto linguistics. Man this stuff is 100000x more interesting than the crap I've been going to for 4 years.

Design Project: Learn stuff yourself, do project...

Geotechnical Design: Tunnels, clay... chose it cause my other 'electives' had too much work (i.e. Engineering project I don't want to spend 2 all nighters finishing).

Foundations: Same as above, but foundations.

Steel Design: more of the same. Analysis, stupid design rules, lots of equations.

I'm starting on Tuesday...

Third Year Japanese - self explanatory
Biological Psychology - "Interrelations between brain, behavior, and subjective experience. The course introduces students to physiological psychology through consideration of current knowledge about the mechanisms of mind and behavior."
The Psychology of Time - "An examination of the various ways in which time is experienced and influences psychological behavior. Topics include: the perception of rhythm, tempo, and duration; temporal perspective; societal concepts of time; neural substrates of temporal behavior." This one seems really neat- I've already started some of the readings on it and am looking forward to the class.
Topics in Chinese History & Culture: Science & Colonialism- "This course will examine linkages between science and colonialism in the East Asian context. In particular, we will investigate whether theories based on Western colonizers are equally appropriate for Qing and Japanese tactics of empire. Topics will include: cosmology, race and ethnicity, industry, and military technology. "
Chorale- I sing. :)
Plus 8hr/week for work at the help desk job.

I'm looking forward to this semester, the courses seem interesting. Well, I'm hopeful anyway.
