People aren't just responsible for just some of their actions and not others. If you don't want to accept the consequences that society deems necessary for your actions, then choose to live in another society or petition that the society change.

Don't like laws against prostitution? Petition to get them changed. Until then, they're still illegal. However, whether they're illegal or not, I and many many many others will share the opinion that the profession is a vile and repulsive way to live and to treat your community.

in short, the sex industry causes problems with
1.) public health
2.) women's interests

in anycase, welcome to AT val. i hope people will learn to like/dislike you on your merits rather than a broad generalization that has labeled you as a member of a stigmatized group.

I almost typed up a lengthy reply, but instead, I'll just say that neither of those things are reasons to be against the industry. The first one is something that anyone in the industry is aware of, and it would have little-to-no effect outside of the industry. If you're having sex with someone that you don't know well and not protecting yourself, that's your fault. No, condoms aren't 100%, but they're close. As for the violence in the industry, that IS a natural circumstance of the industry, on that I agree. But if it was a legal industry, you would have FAR less risk to the girls and could more easily regulate and discourage those activities. The way it is now, if a guy picks up a prostitute and beats her up in her hotel room, it's more difficult to talk to a cop about it.
