So I've got this bad tooth ache and I'm going to see the dentist tomorrow morning. The only thing I have in the house is some Bayer aspirin. I'm not even sure if apsirin would work for a tooth ache but right now I'm ready to try anything.

Anywho, the expiration date is of Feb. 2007. Is it still ok to use? Does the effect just lessen with time, or does aspirin actually "go bad" after the expriration date? thanks

I've used expired Aspirin before and I still live. My Aspirin is like 3 years past expiry.

I don't know about this.. I don't think I would like to take the risk unless there was really no other way.

As long as it doesn't smell strongly of vinegar, you're fine. That smell happens when aspirin deteriorates.

Aspirin usually won't do squat for dental pain, you can try advil but what you really
need is something with a narcotic agent, ie: Tylenol#3 w/codine or loritabs..

Advil / ibuprofen works better than aspirin for toothaches, at least according to what dentists have told me.

They work better for all pain. Asprin is a substance that just happens to thin blood, causing pressure in painful spots to subside. Ibuprofen is DESIGNED to do this, so it does it much more effectively.

Well, I went to see the dentist today and had the tooth extracted. Seems that I had quite a bit of decay on the tooth. It was really lodged in so they had a hard time taking the tooth out. Once I saw it when it was out it looked like it had a good chunk of gum still around it :frown:

So they perscribed some ibuprofen and said not to drink out of a straw for a while, go figure. Anyway, once this novicane starts to wear off I think I'm really going to be in pain. Wish me luck.

Hope you feel better, sucks that a lot of dentists wont prescribe decent painkillers
nowadays, I guess they don't want to get any attention from the DEA..
