OK to mix OEM and retail on RAID???

I've got a maxtor diamondmax 60GB HB that I bought at a local staples so it is the retail version. If I want to use this in a RAID setup is it OK to add an OEM model of the same Maxtor drive or should I just get another retail one? Also, I've heard that some of these drives end up being Quantums in the box. If I get stuck with one of those would that be OK to run in RAID or do the drives have to be exactly the same?

Thanks

Drives are the same, the packaging+cables+screws+manual+software is the only thing that separates a retail HDD from a bare OEM.

That is correct. You have the same drives just the difference is No extra stuff ie cabels, screws ect.
You will be fine.... Enjoy the raid setup.

retail hd is just a hd in a box, has the same model number/part number as an oem (better to call it bare) hd, has a different part number on the box for retail purpose.

for Maxtor retail hd, you can't be sure what's inside, it could be old DM+45, DM+60, or Quantum Fireball AS.

for WD, IBM retail hd, it's sure the same model as oem.
