Now I know this whole MiniTeam issue is pissing some off, but why do people leave because of it?

Does it really matter who's first on Mika's???

I don't know about you others out there but I'm not into this to compete with the other TA members... I'm here to give something back to Anand and because you guys have helped me out a lot before (THX BTW:D) so I want to give my small part back to YOU!

So what if someone on the team outproduces you! It's still blocks cracked for TA!!!

I know it's great to race the other guys and all, but shouldn't we be more concerned about "trashing the slash" and holding off the DPC?

This thing about MagicMan and Possessed Freak quitting has just pissed me off! Now I know you guys have put a lot of effort into being number 1 and I have nothing but respect and admiration for you guys for that... BUT leaving the team because you aren't number one anymore? or because people are coming down on MiniTeams?

I know you're gonna get pissed guys but:

GET A GRIP WILL'YA????

I'm sorry if I pissed anyone off by posting this but this is starting to piss me off too! I'll end this rant now before someone decides to ban me or something :p

Gettin A Grip on my self. :p :)

Yes Mikas does matter. It used to be only single members in there, even if unofficial teams existed. I used to have a chance. It is getting tough and Aggrevating. However I am not going to quit. Just maybe back off now and then. ;)

I think you've brought up several good points, TwoFace, and I second the motion: everyone get a grip. Make it your mission to make this place feel like home to even those with the smallest herds. Too much internal competition will harm us. For every gloat, make ten posts to congratulate others on an acheivement, maybe? As I've said before, I feel no need to race people who are obviously out of my class, and I've actually cut my output to help boost the people I was racing against, in the past. Not patting my own back here... they returned the favor and we all felt great about it. C'mon, we are a T E A M ! Turn your focus back outwards to our effort to put Team Anandtech on the top, people!

Apparently it does to some who are more focused on that than Team AnandTech. Notice the word "team" in the above? Why the HELL should it matter if one person, or a whole group of people produce more blocks than the next? It all goes to Team AnandTech.

Tom,

I second that...!!! We've seen a much lower rate of gloating posts by the mini-teams since the last uprising..No recruiting theads have been posted, with the exception of the exceptional effort of Russ, Paulson, and Soccerman in the OT and GH forums (Thanks guys:))..and those were for Team Anandtech..Not TA Cube or any other mini-team...As I said earlier, even the mini-team spirit lives for TA: We donated several PC's crunching on OGR for the hope to keep those guys (Team Anandtech also) at the #1 spot...We are not trying to steal the #1 spot there for ourselves, but for the TEAM...The real team..

Also, I have noticed that many of the mini-team members jump in head first (Russ, RaySun2Be, DVCH, MWalkden, and many others...Sorry, I forgot my ginko..Can't remember them all:p) to help out new members questions or questions from those wanting information about the Distributed computing challenges....

I hope that everyone can live together...I would love it if some other mini-team came along (especially if they hadn't been doing RC5 before) and blew by us so fast that we didn't know what hit us...As long as they were for TA and not the DPC!!!

<< People just get sick of you bragging about your score >>

Where? The only threads I've saw lately about score were Strates, yours, and RaySun2Be's congratulations threads to the milestone makers..

I'm not sure who you were referring to Paulson?

My main reason for continuing as for joining in the first is for the WHOLE team. It is just nice to get close to the top now and then. :) Yes it is true that the competition inside is to much sometimes.

Let's all have a little fun though. :D :D

Engineer, agreed, and I hope I didn't sound critical, because frankly I think the members of the sub-teams have made the necessary adjustments, and are doing fine at having fun without overdoing it. ; ) Keep up the good work, especially the warm welcomes and good advice that you guys are giving the new people! : ) (*heh, right about now I am missing those old smilies I loved so much*)

huh?

:)

Yeah, I'm still around. I used to be a stats freak, till I saw the ugly side of it. Now I just crack for the good of the team and the cause. In fact I haven't even looked at my stats in... over a month.

If you're quitting because of your stats, then do like TwoFace said and GET A GRIP! Then go out and get a life. Then stats wont mean so much to you.

come on dudes...
it's not that we LOVE it ...
i just posted that message on the DPC forum because you guys should not stress this much!!!
just join the winning team like we do!

we see a subteam as another fun rivalry inside of DPC!
If you do not like not be number one you should not be living at all...
AT RULES & DPC RULES & SUBTEAMS RULE!

Just do the thing that gives you satisfaction!
FUN = LIFE!

ooooooohh.... that wasn't nice! :)
no just kidding...
i just love the competition between our teams! I really think it's a shame that people leave AT because of some subteams.
If you definitly want to be in the stats, just join a subteam.... OR == A S S I M I L A T E == enough pc's!
So, to all of you TA dudes who are complaining about subteams: GET YOURSELVES MORE PC'S! and your problems will be solved..

btw, how's my english? I'm quiet drunk and dutch too :)

mechbgon,

Are you still on smily strike?:D

Frenzy,

I don't want to be rude, but this is a discussion among our team members. You have no business being in this thread, so get the hell out.

i agree that this might not be my business..

BUT (capitals), since when are YOU in the position to tell people to get off of AnandTech's Forums? :(

Frenzy,

Any Team AnandTech member in this thread is in that position. The difference is that the rest of them are nice. I am not. Now, feel free to post in any other threads, and leave us to our discussion. Your intrusion is rude.

Jator,

His invasion, and subsequent taunting in a thread about our internal difficulties does not warrant civility.

Russ, yeah, I just don't like the new smilies very much. I am worried they'll take away my "sleepy-face" member icon next... I have been running it since day one.

edit: my member icon looks like he needs... COFFEE! ;D

It's not miniteams that bother me (and I think Jator and Magicman, too.) It's that the attitude around here has changed.

Case in point, Russ' replies. We sort of used to have an unspoken rule around here that, while we could trash-talk all we liked, nobody ever returned a flame. No periods, nothing. We just let it drop. Further, we never turned anyone away. If they didn't like our non-responsiveness to their flames, they just left.

That whole philosophy seems to have slowly disappeared. :(

Frenzy,

As I said, feel free to post away in the other threads. You, and all the DPCs are welcome here. We just need this thread to ourselves to hammer out some issues.
