ok this is annoying now......UT2k4 settings !!!!!!

ive been seeing lots of posts with people sayin their gf3 ti's and gf4 ti 4200's can run UT2004 at full whack on 1024x768 @ 50fps or what ever......i have most things on normal..excpet textures and characters at high......and most of the time everything is very fluid....some ons levels get abit bad tho like into the 20's and teens!!

i run a 9500pro at 325/300 with a P4 2.4ghz with 768mb RDRAM PC800

currently.....no FSAA or Aniso Filtering, 1024x768, textures and characters high

shadows - blob

phyiscs - low

everything else normal

so without droppin any average frames....what should i be able to improve on?

Can you oc that cpu any? UT likes a lot of cpu power. Anyway, the most noticeable differences imo come from raising the texutre level. Try bumping that up some more. FYI on my comp at stock speeds, I run similar settings to you at 1280x1024 and experience slow-downs in onslaught (the only mode I play) maps, especially when zoomed in with certain weapons. Overall it performs well though. When I oc to what's in my sig in runs butter smooth.

i play at 1024x768 coz my monitor can only do 60hz at 1280x1024 and i can notice it and it is annoying! so 1024x768 is fine for me!......i ran some benchmarks using ut mark and found that using 4xaa and 8xaf does do anything to performance. infact min fps go up abit....but not entirely sure this thing tests properly as in doesnt show what u see in a game when ur playing

think ill have a fiddle round again

i can get the cpu up to 2.6 thats as far as i have dared go, utilities in windows dont work even the gigabyte easy tune doesnt work without crashing.....i have managed 2.6 by doin it in the bios, i have rdram and its supposedly very scalable and i have seen PC800 reach PC1066 no hassle, case have good ventilation and cpu is cooled with a pletier from thermaltake, but if it goes wrong, i have mess wit jumpers to rest bios......i got dual bios not sure what it does or how to use it.

some people are just generous with their framerate esitmations. ut2004 is a hog of a game and even with a very high end system you will have to seriously compromise image quality to keep things above 30fps, if you don't have a very high end system then you just have to expect serious framerate drops.

2.5 Ghz AMD XP w/9700pro

1280x1024
8X AF performance, no AA
Holy sh@t settings

Always over 60FPS for most indoor maps
~45fps average large outdoor maps

I found the trick is the texture filtering sliders in the driver; if you set them 1 notch from the left, you'll get a nice boost without losing too much quality IME.

Oh yeah, and disable TruForm in the driver.

AMD 2800+ XP w/ 9800 Pro
1024 Res
No AF, No AA
All high settings

80 FPS in indoors maps
~55 in Outdoor (max being 86 fps, min being 37)

It's mostly a CPU limited game. With my 9800 Pro, I found that I got similar framerates at 1600x1200 and 800x600 in larger maps.

TBH, on big onslaught maps with lots of players you really need ridiculous CPU power to maintain 60 fps.

Something is definatly wrong with your system configuration. Your proc should be very able to play UT2k4 without and problems.

With my 9500 Pro I run at either 2x AA or no AA 4 x AF and all settings as high as they go. IE "Holy Shit" but ussually between 30-65 FPS. But UT04 is CPU limited I notice when I run my chip at 2.3 Ghz it will run around speeds I already said. If I clock my chip at 2.4Ghz which is where I normaly run it but I deceide to clock it back as its been pretty hot in my apartment. Any ways when I run it at 2.4 I ussually get speeds ov about 35-70 fps so it helps out my minimum frame ratesand highs the average also seems up a bit. I would say just from a 100 mhz clock I am getting about another 5 fps which is rather significante since thats not that great of a gain.

Any ways if u OC your CPU some I bet you will notice alot more speed as a 2.4 Ghz P4 isn't the fastest thing out there anymore... esspecially the older 400 fsb ones A touch more speed should go along ways.

UT2004 runs grerat for me at 1280x1024 with everything cranked to highest and AA and AF off (I don't notice a difference) with my 9800pro, rarely will I experience frame drops that I notice.

when i use my gf3 ti500 on my system, the game is pretty smooth on medium sized maps with all settings highest, but in the large onslaught maps it starts to get choppy, but still playable. No AA or AF. i havent checked framerates

hmm i get realy horrible vehicle textures with sliders anything below quality.....looks like mush

I haven't played on a map with vehicles with these settings yet, so you may be correct. 🙂
