OK, that's enough...Poker is NOT a sport!!!

I think poker takes a lot of skill. It's not all luck. It would be more interesting to watch if they gave some nice commentary with it. I didn't see this so maybe they had that though.

heh, I don't care what channel it's on, but at least it's on somewhere...ESPN's probably the best choice, since they know their viewing crowd is predominantly male...I love watching poker and billiards. 🙂 (I RAN MY FIRST 9-BALL RACK YESTERDAY 😀 🙂)

Why shouldn't they show Poker on ESPN. If it's strip poker, men or women will tune in to watch members of the opposite sex get naked. 😛

I got a poker game scheduled this saturday night.... wonder if ESPN is going to pick it up? Heheh I bet our poker is 100x more interesting than any bred for TV poker tourney.

POKER is a SPORT. The guys who play have BLOOD and SWEAT playing Poker... especially if there are high stakes. I believe there is a championship tournament in Vegas.

Watching CS matches is actually more exciting than 90% of the crap on ESPN. But they wouldn't be as fun to watch on ESPN as they are on HLTV where you can control lots of different aspects.

And PoPPer, people in the CPL can't cheat so your little analogy doesn't fly. Plus if they are caught cheating on a public server, they risk getting their entire clan disqualified from whatever league they are in, which could mean 3+ years of work down the drains (since each CS league requires 1 year to get to the next level, if you are successful). It would be similar to if a pro football player was using steroids and got caught, kicking the entire pro football team out of the league.

last year, I actually watched a broadcast of a national tournament for that golf arcade game. (Golden Tee or something...the one with just the ball for a joystick and you roll it back and then forward to hit it.

they had a guy doing play by play and everything. I thought it was pretty funny

What channel would you like to carry this, abc? Everyone knows poker is a sport, sheesh !😉

I don't think that ESPN2 has broadcast a MtG tournament in a while. They experimented with it a few years ago, but I think they've stopped. I play Magic fairly often (played in 2 tournaments this weekend), but I doubt I would watch it on TV (I saw the ESPN tapes a few years ago when I was in KL at a tournament).

Nah, I'm not into those card games. My roomate is though. He's on some Magic the Gathering forum all of the time. I'd hate to give money to those Wizards of the Coast guys anyway. They copyrighted a D20 system? Pfffff....
