Ok so you can just plug your 20 PIN powersupply right up to your DFI Lanparty Ut ultra d board?

I see that the 20 pin molex connector fits right into the 24 pin connector and leaves the 4 pins on the right left over. Will this work just fine if you have the other 2 12 volt power connector connected up to it? Im just a little confused and need clarifictaion. I havent tried it and dont want to without a confirmation.

thanks,
Rob

I think the 4-pin connector just provides an extra +12V connection to the motherboard.... if so you might be able to buy a molex -> 4-pin adapter if the board won't work without it. I read a review of the board and it left me with the impression that the molex connectors on the board were for SLI stability, thusly they were optional in a non-SLI setup.

But can the 20 pin molex just be connected into the 24 port without an adapter? The adapters are rather bulky and would mess up my the wiring job on my computer when i get it running.

Yes, just connect it to the board, leaving the 4 pins open. I do this with my Albatron board.

Yes, i had the A8N-SLI and i had the x-connect 500watt(34amps on the 12v line), and it worked fine, leaving 4 pins open on the 24 pin connector. Then i got the 20 to 24pin power wire(NOT AN ADAPTER) for the X-connect and it did nothing at all, didnt even help the overclock to be honest. Make sure though if you are using a 20pin psu that you have at least 20+ rails on the 12v line, 30 preferably. Thats whats great about X-connect, you can switch out wires and when i saw that they sold a 20 to 24pin power cord, i thought that was awesome! An adapter isnt the same thing at all.

I actually HAVE a DFI NF4 Ultra-D mobo w/ 24pin psu. Just follow DFI's recomendations and use a native 24pin psu........

You'll notice alot of problems w/ all the new NF4 mobo's, well ppl. are not following recomendations, ie. 20 pin psu, diff. mem modules, pci video card(not pci-e), dual rail power supplies.

Well guess what , I've had Zero "0" problems and its been > 2 weeks. Running WinXPsp2, nforce 6.39 & video 7180's drivers...

Jose

I dont feel like dropping another 100 or so on a powersupply when I just bought my antec 480 trueblue just 4 months ago. Im gonna have the molex on the motherboard plugged in so I should be fine im guessing. my graphics card doesnt use more than 72 watts (X800XL) If i have any problems then ill get a new PSU but mine supplies 28a on the 12v line and thatll be plenty for my computer.
