OK, so who's getting or upgrading to a WP8 phone ??

Yea, because that's not the type of thing sensationalist websites love to capitalize on lol.

I don't understand the whole "WP7 users are abandoned" thing though. They're still getting at least one more big update and it includes the only big aesthetic change. I think that a few months from now if you put a WP7.8 phone next to a WP8 phone, you won't be able to tell much difference. They'll look about the same and I think they'll feel about the same because hardware is not a bottleneck for WP; which is really all that matters for most users.

Having an identical UI doesn't mean they are both up to date, I could install an ICS themed launcher on a G1 and you wouldn't be able to see a difference holding it next to a Gnex.

Windows Phone users are abandoned because they have gotten worse upgrade support than Android or iOS. Even the US market Galaxy S models received two major updates.

There's a difference between "wouldn't see a difference" and "wouldn't see or feel a difference". I think that the software changes between WP7 and WP8, with the exception of the revised home screen, are going to ultimately be behind the scenes or changes that are simply not applicable to WP7 phones. I'm guessing the user experience between the two will be roughly equal unless you're a user whose experience really hinges on one of the to-be-supported features; like expansion slots if you've got a ton of music or something, but even then it's not like you could patch that in to phones that don't have the slot, so lack of updates isn't really the problem there.

Further, number of updates is a poor index of support and product quality really, as one might just as easily argue that a product that receives fewer updates needed fewer updates because it was further along to begin with.

Good luck arguing that WP7 was ahead of iOS or Android in terms of features or app support.

Sorry, but using Android as an argument for upgrade support is a huge fail. Hence all your arguments are invalid. 😀

Seriously though, put the MS hate aside, they are doing a fantastic job with their mobile operating system. You really have to try it to understand. Apps will catch up sooner or later, and at such infancy stage, Windows Mobile is so much more stable than Android. The integrated design of WM imho encourages more innovative apps for the future, rather than useless apps. Let's face it, how many apps on android/iOS are actually worth downloading, let along buying? I can probably count with one hand.

Why? Even poorly supported Android devices get as good or better support than the Lumia 900 and it was the WP7 flagship.

Windows Phone has less marketshare than Bada, that's not exactly successful in my book. Oh, as far as the integrated design is concerned they copied that from Android.

All of the WP7 fans keep talking about how it will overtake Android but I just don't see it happening, the Galaxy S3 is set to sell 10 million by next month, 5x the number of units that Nokia's entire WP& lineup sold in an entire quarter and the S3 is more expensive than any of them. Even the Galaxy Note outsold Nokia's lineup several times over.

lol the start screen is marginally improved but i still see windows phone as trash. sorry.

until it gets the app support that iOS has, I really don't care.

So its trash because it doesnt have 10 million apps of which you will only personally experience a few dozen?

Fanboy much?

I don't think WP7 is trash, but it is very limiting - along with iOS - compared to Android when it comes to very simple tasks like tethering, file copying, downloading most anything off the web, playing just about any kind of file, homescreen customization, widgets.

Yes. I had my Samsung focus on release day, I have a Samsung Focus S now, and will upgrade to the WP8 from either Samsung or Nokia on the WP8 release day.

You should be watching the Google I/O right now and having a orgasm. Instead of trashing Windows Mobile. They are showing some fantastic new features. My fingers are itching to buy the Nexus 7...but the lack of microSD is killing me inside.

Enjoy your tech. It's not a competition. Microsoft may or may not over-take Google. Who knows. Why don't you let the market decide in a couple of years.
