Called my DSL provider. Had my service moved. I switched houses on the same block (literally next to each other - long story).
Anyway, I call on Monday, and they say I'll have service on Friday at the new house. I call Friday evening after I notice that it is on, but I'm only syncing at 1/2 of my speed. I'm syncing at 1984 down 512 up. I pay for 3000 down 512 up.
This exact same thing happened when I first moved here - and it took me calling an hour a day for 3 weeks to get it resolved.
During conversation with tech, they told me that I needed to make a new account name (he couldn't explain why - and the girl that switched it never mentioned this necessity and told me it would just be up and running on Friday)
So I go through the process of making a new account name. I then have to switch my ppoe on the modem to this new name and everything. Of course, that does no good. Same sync. Then they said, "O the account isn't done 'processing' and that don't worry about it till after Saturday at midnight. So of course that time has came and gone. I unplugged and replugged the modem just to make sure I didn't need to powercycle. Unfortuantly - it is still syncing at the same speed. It says in the modem's tech page that it is 'capable' of syncing on this line up to 9000 down, so it isn't a line quality issue that I can tell - no errors of any kind being noted in the diagnostics.
When this happened before, it finally got elevated to 2 different people talking with me at the same time and someone doing something, then telling me to powercycle my modem and voila - it was fixed instantly. Only problem is when I tell these techs this they just ignore me and go on with the stupid script.
Any magic words I can say to get this done sooner. I really don't feel like going through all of this again.
