thank you for ending the war. I mean, recent battles were won, but the last stragglers were really snailing up the war. Thanks.
I know your comment was in jest, so this isn't at you, but the whole "last stragglers" thing hits a chord. I'm not in denial, I know that Blu-Ray has it in the bag at this point. However, some recent propaganda has been spouting the idea that "the consumers" chose BD when the fact that the HD/BD total market is 3% that of the standard definition DVD market shows that "the consumers" are continuing to shrug at both formats.
I believe that's because a lot of HDTV owners are waiting it out, letting one format win and they also want to wait for prices to fall. Once both happen, you'll see an increase in hardware sales that probably will hold steady.
The fact that neither format has every new movie has a lot of people not wanting to buy a player that won't be able to play some of the titles released. So you see... a lot of things right now about the market are tied to certain circumstances, and I believe once one problem is taken care of, the rest will fall in line and the market share for HDM will start to rapidly increase. Consumers want that to happen first, kind of waiting it out and letting the hardcore swarm to the new formats, letting them duke it out with each other while they wait impatiently.
