I had a lot of problems with my KDS Trinitrons that I tried using my Geforce2. The text wasn't too bad at 1024x768 but as you go higher it gets worse and worse. I have been using a Samsung 955DF for the last few weeks and like it well enough that it took me 11 days to get around to hooking up the MicronPC 19" Trinitron sitting in the corner of my office.
Well, I tried the Micron one today and............YUCK, YUCK, YUCK!!!! Since I have been using the Samsung I upped my resolution to 1280x960 and love it, but on the trinitron the text was so fuzzy I couldn't leave the monitor hooked up long enough to try any other resolutions. I like 1280x960 and can't go back, so no Trinitron monitors for me.
I bought the 955DF for the machine I'm building for my mom, but she's getting the Trinitron since her machine will be running a Voodoo3 3000 and she won't like a resolution higher then 1024x768, if that high. I only bought the 955DF because I got such a great deal I couldn't pass it up. I figured my mom wouldn't care what she was getting.....funny thing is I'm keeping it!!! I got a great deal on the Micron too, only spent $75 more than the Samsung, and that included the BNC cable.
You can blame NVidia if you want but explain to me why text is crisp and clear on the Samsung shadowmask and not on the trinitrons.
