Ok, so HOW many of you have problems with GeForce2 and Triniton monitors?

Is this a prevalent problem? I plan to upgrade my TNT2 sometime and if the GeForce 2 is having major problems with Triniton monitors, I might have to go with a Radeon. I lack complete soldering skills as well.

I've had no problems what so ever with my Geforce2 GTS Pro and KDS Avitron monitor which uses an FD Trinitron tube. What kind of problems have you heard about? I find it weird that a certain graphics chip would behave differently with different monitors.

I had a lot of problems with my KDS Trinitrons that I tried using my Geforce2. The text wasn't too bad at 1024x768 but as you go higher it gets worse and worse. I have been using a Samsung 955DF for the last few weeks and like it well enough that it took me 11 days to get around to hooking up the MicronPC 19" Trinitron sitting in the corner of my office.

Well, I tried the Micron one today and............YUCK, YUCK, YUCK!!!! Since I have been using the Samsung I upped my resolution to 1280x960 and love it, but on the trinitron the text was so fuzzy I couldn't leave the monitor hooked up long enough to try any other resolutions. I like 1280x960 and can't go back, so no Trinitron monitors for me.

I bought the 955DF for the machine I'm building for my mom, but she's getting the Trinitron since her machine will be running a Voodoo3 3000 and she won't like a resolution higher then 1024x768, if that high. I only bought the 955DF because I got such a great deal I couldn't pass it up. I figured my mom wouldn't care what she was getting.....funny thing is I'm keeping it!!! I got a great deal on the Micron too, only spent $75 more than the Samsung, and that included the BNC cable.

You can blame NVidia if you want but explain to me why text is crisp and clear on the Samsung shadowmask and not on the trinitrons.

Text on shadow mask monitors are usually sharper than apeture grill monitors regardless of video card. So I've heard.

Well on my trinitron text looked like ink with water spilled on it. It was terrible compared to the 955DF. There wasn't a little difference, it was night and day.

I do believe NVdia has greatly increased the RAMDAC of the upcoming NV20 in order to try and "fix" this problem.

must be higher res.. I run at 800x600 geforce2 ultra and a 21" trinitron with no issue. but I've never been above this resolution, so I guess it's not wise to use me as an example :)

nvidia cards just are bad for 2d at higher than 1152x864 generally. the visiontek/elsa cards are supposedly a little better. 3dfx used to be a good idea to get, but well they are dead. And i think the ATI problems are fixed but not certain. Myself i've got a g400 and well, it works very well at even 1920x1440.

I'm using an Elsa Gladiac GeForce2 and I run 1280x960 on my Samsung 955DF and the 2d quality is excellent, I am very happy with this combo.

I have used a Hercules Prophet II GTS / 64MB on a Sony 200GS (17") and a 100GS (15") with great results. No problems at all with games, video or text.

I remember reading tons of problems with the Radeons and Trinitron monitors.
