OK seriously...4890 Crossfire or 5770 Crossfire?

OK...first off I know that the 4890 CF is faster at stock speeds. I know this.

Now, I'm thinking of selling my 4890's to fund the purchase to the 5770 Crossfire. Why? DX11, lower power, and lower heat.

Performance isn't a big deal, I'm not looking for a performance upgrade more than I am a features upgrade (DX11, lower heat, power, etc.).

My question is how well can the 5770 perform overclocked?

I see that in all benchmarks that a 5770 is about on par with a 4870 with the 4890 being a good margin faster (10-20 fps faster in general). I also know that due to lower power and heat that they can overclock quite well.

Ive read in reviews that the 5770 also scales a lot better in Crossfire than the 4890, no benchmarks though, just reviewers saying so. Also, I see that the 5770 Crossfire is a good margin faster than a single 5870...so I would like to stick with Crossfire instead of a single card. Also Eyefinity is only possible on 2 cards, no?

Personally I would stick with what you have for now. I wouldn't think that your electricity bill is going to drastically drop, or a dozen new DX11 games will come out next week that will simply require new cards to show their eye candy, or the heat you are generating in your case now is out of control. You might sacrifice some trade off value by waiting, but the newer nvidia cards might shake things up enough to consider another option, and you'll continue to enjoy the higher fps for now.

Yeah, higher FPS are a plus...but I game at 1680x1050 and usually no AA...mainly because at anything less than 8xAA I hardly even notice a difference. So really, no game struggles, I mean, no game hurts my system.

So playing a game at 95FPS on 4890's as opposed to 90FPS on 5770's (I have every intention of overclocking) really doesnt make that big a deal to me if it means DX11 and lower heat and power.

Does anyone know how well overclocked 5770's compare to the competition?

If you are really interested in features, lower heat, and lower power, I would recommend upgrading to ONE card. Eyefinity is also only possible with 1 card right now. Also. Also.

With your resolution, you don't even need CF. A single 4890 is enough.

At that res crossfire is wasted. Sell your 4890s and get a 5850 if you must get something new.

What do you mean Crossfire is wasted? It still yields awesome framerates...if you mean wasted as in the games are running to fast and 2 cards is a waste of speed...isnt that the point?

Id rather my games run fast as shit 100fps then the acceptable 60fps.

I will chime in here and say that 60 fps with crossfire can feel like 25 fps sometimes if there is lots of micro stutter.
