ok, seems alright (for now). thanks for helping replies!

Was it my guide you used? at OCModShop. please elaborate on why it did not work when you tried to boot it up after you replaced the fan

The pinout on the Panaflo leads might not be the same on the stock fan. This would cause serious problems.

🙁
actually... i just went to my friend's house with my computer to see what's up. i tried his psu in my computer, same results (couldn't find any drives). then i tried his psu with one of his drives in my computer, and it found it. i then tried each of my drives in his computer... it only found the dvd-rom. sigh. it looks like my drives are fried.
snowpunk - had i only consulted someone that knew what they were doing before! my friend came over with wire strippers and soldering gun in tow, and said, "let's put a panaflo in your psu! see those red and black wires? all you have to do is connect them to the panaflo's, it's as simple as that!" he had done the same to his enermax whisper 300w, so i trusted him. looking back, i realize that this probably wasn't the brightest of ideas. can what i did still work? (it *seems* ok now, except for the drives not starting up and whatnot), or should i drill straight through the psu case like you advise?
