OK, PowerDVD 3.0 *final* inside :)

I posted this due to popluar request...

This is for trial purposes only, and you must delete after 30 days. 🙂 I still think WinDVD 2.3 is a better software solution. This is the full version and legal AFAIK. I can't read half the text on the site anyhow...LOL.

Die von mir letztens gepostete Version war eine Beta Version! Hier PowerDVD 3.0 Final. Neu ist z.B. Dolby Headphone support.

PowerDVD 3.0 final

Please post your feedback after you try it out.

Well PowerDVD 3 Trial doesn't seem to want to let me do 4 channel downmixing.
So i'll see if this does...

I'm still trying to decide if I should buy PDVD 3 or WinDVD 2.3 both are $50..it's a tough decision (I need the multichannel version of WinDVD and it's more than the 2 channel version)

Isn't this warez? Cyberlink has never released "full version demos", only 5 minute limited demos. I also see links to other warez on that page too

Hrmm I still can't enable 4 channel downmix...

John do you have a trial version of the multichannel Win DVD 2.3?
They only have 2 channel trial...and I don't want to buy a softDVD player until i'm certain that it will do 4 channel downmix for me...

Never will I watch a DVD again that is not decoded by a hardware decoder. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE, and there is not big enough of a price differential to be a reason to software decode.

CigarSmokedByClinton, you are smokin' some heavy chronic. You cannot tell a difference on a monitor when using a properly configured software player (using a nice video card) vs. a hardware decoder.

Possibly, but when people are talking about spending $50 on a software solution, and pricewatch has the Hollywood Plus for $45 plus shipping, you are talking close to the same price, but you get Dolby Digital out, Svidio out. and you can do other things on your computer at the same time. Why go software?

BTW, I am fine with those who disagree with my opinion, but is there really a need to say "you are smokin' some heavy chronic"? Think about it.

CigarSmokedByClinton, it was in reference to your name ole chap...think about it. 😛

<< you can do other things on your computer at the same time >>

You can also do other "things" while using a software player so that is a moot issue.

I guess its just personal opinion, then. I have a Dolby Digital reciever w/ 5 speakers, Wega TV. I coulda bought a $200 standalone DVD player, but instead I got a 2X DVD drive and an "old" creative inlay decoder card for $40 shipped. Now i watch many DVD's and procrastinate more. Yipee

The 4 speaker downmixing is a little better and I can finally use Hardware acceleration on my GTS 🙂
I also love that headphone thing, it feels like surround speakers...

BTW Noriaki, to get 4 speaker AC3 emulation, just select 4-speaker output in the audio tab in the control panel. (don't select SPDIF output because that just outputs undecoded AC3)

I found the 4 speaker mode.
There is a menu option and a check box for Dolby Pro-logic once you select the menu option.

Thanks though.

Eh? I personally think software decoding is potentially better quality than hardware. So far I've not been impressed with the Hollywood in comparison to an ATI video card and a good software decoder. Hardware is more convenient though, but really the best "hardware" for that is to go out and buy a DVD player. 😛 (I have two, as well as two DVD-ROM drives.)
