Hi All,
Finally ordered my 9700 (non-pro) and having an Nvidia card for 3 years or more, not sure what I need for utilities, etc.
I've been reading Rage3D and have d/l the newest Cat3 and DX9 drivers, along with the oc bios and Rage3D tweak.
Do I still need something like "Refresh Fix" or the like for the "60Hz" problem?
Also, I understand that I have to completely gid rid of all the Nv stuff in the OS, then install the card, cancel out of the XP auto driver install, install the Cat drvs, reboot then install the Control Panel?
I mainly am playing CFS3, NWN and the EA sports games right now, any files or fixes that are needed for these particular games or any others you know off?
I 'm basically trying to get my ducks in a row b/4 the card arrives so any other useful tips or tricks welcome.

TIA,
Mike G

Hi there.

Its quite simple actually, in my experience, just get the Cat3.0's, DX9, and whatever o/c'ing tweak program you want. The refresh rate fix is in DX9 anyway now - so thats sorted.

1. Turn on your pc with your Nvidia card in it.
2. Goto add/remove programs, delete any Nvidia stuff, all of it.
3. (2 choices here - either just shutdown your pc without restarting, or cancel auto driver-install on restart, then shutdown).
4. Open it up, replace card, insert extra floppy drive power lead.
5. Startup PC, cancel auto driver-install.
6. Install DX9 (Cat 3.0 won't install without DX9).
7. Install Cat 3.0 drivers + control panel (which should be included if you have the ~20Mb file).
8. Follow prompts and you are finished.

Thats what I did, and to my knowledge that all there is to it.

Sounds easy enough. How is it running, any problems with specific games or in general?
Thanks,
