damn... i lived in japan for 15 years... from when i was 3 til i was 18... over those 15 years there were a total of about 10 recorded murders... this did about half that in one day.... Japan is such a safe and great country and i reccommend anybody who has a chance to go and visit it... (that may not seem appropriate in this thread... but oh well...)

Again, we neglect to push the issue of "People Control". This guy was a repeat offender and a known mental case. If they had taken him off the streets and kept him off the streets, none of this would have happened. Get to the root of the problem people!!!

Ulfwald, how about some stories on how "People Control" has averted tragedy? I'm willing to bet that there are more instances of "People Control" that occur every day that save more lives than removing guns from the hands of everyone.

A gun sitting alone with no human interaction has never killed anyone and neither has a knife. I find it funny that most liberals are all about social reform programs and helping people out in this world, but every time one of them uses a weapon to do evil, they blame the weapon and not the person wielding it. Help your fellow man and you will help the ignorant use of weapons of all kinds.

One last thought, when's the last time you blamed an inanimate object for something it caused to happen to you and felt that it would be better to take it away from everyone? Hell, I'm gonna start "Computer Control" cuz hackers hurt people with computers, so let's take 'em away from everyone. I'm gonna start "Automotive Control" cuz they kill people too, especially when some moron gets behind the wheel intoxicated. Oh yeah, and let's start some "Bicycle Control" cuz a kid in Nova Scotia accidentally ran over an old lady in a crosswalk on his 10-speed. Oh yeah, and how bout "Food Control" because someone ate some bad pork and it killed them. See my gist here? Every single one of the "bad" things are harmless until you put moronic people in contact with them. Guns and knives and bombs are not the problem, people are.

jhu, let me know how to get my hands on some of those warheads. I'll take care of the gun problem by pushing my "People Control" agenda to a whole new level.

You anti-gun people do the same thing. You look at only the NEGATIVE things about guns. You use every little incident that a gun was used for "bad", leaving every good thing ever done with them in the dark. THEN, when someone points out something like this(YES, it was a pre-schoo.. But do things like this happen only evry once in a LONG while? No. Shootings happen all the time. Boy, wouldn't it have been nice for a few students to have guns during Columbine?)

you mean escalate the level of violence? nut cases maybe nutty.. but they aren't stupid. if they knew people at the school were armed, they would simply change their plans.. maybe bring backpacks full of explosives in the library.. and then forget to leave with them:p would make em even more paranoid.. definetly wouldn't toy around with their prey:p

Well, now that I am awake and back at work where I can post, I will clarify my position on this.

What happened to those kids is a tragedy, they did nothing to that person, they did not deserve to die.

What I did was truly a parody of what many of the liberals have done in the past, take a tragedy and use it to further an agenda. But there was also a point to this post as well:

No matter what we do, there is always some crazed/derranged individual that will find some way to kill someone. What we need are tougher laws on CRIME. We need to hold individuals responsible for their actions, and quit demonizing inanimate objects. If we outlaw guns, then people use knives, just as this individual did. What is next, Bows and arrows? that is a weapon that scares me more than a gun, why? because you hear nothing until you are hit. Ok so we take away the bows and arrows, next, we have knife control, sword control, but predatory individuals are still finding weapons to kill with, while law abiding citizens live in fear because they posses no way to protect themselves. That is not my way, I refuse to live in fear, and I refuse to be a victim.

I wasn't arguing that you shouldn't argue against gun control. In fact, I agree with you on many points. I was just saying your parody, as you put it, was in bad taste. I knew that it had a point, and even a good one, but the way in which it was presented just didn't agree with me. That is all I wanted to get across.

Data, I heear ya, but isn't what the liberal left doing about the same thing? I may have pushed the limits this time, but I just had to make a point. Sorry if it offended anyone, but sometimes to make a point, you have to stir the pot a little.

uh...

I'd just like to point out that I really like to retain my right of cutting the turkey with a *DREADED KNIFE* at thanksgiving dinner.

gun == violence.
anything created for the sole purpose of VIOLENTLY harming AND VIOLENTLY killing should be kept away from the general public.

though I do approve of flare guns! because they actually have a REAL use!

urmeatball,

You really live up to your name. guns are a means of protection, and are not meant as a means of aggression, but leave it to a predator to turn it into a means of evil destruction.

respectfully disagree
in countries without such easy access to guns, the murder rate due to same is reduced significantly
one reason why i like to visit tokyo is that it's like new york -- without guns

ulfwald.

are you saying that guns were not meant to harm or kill? I'm saying even if you're using a gun for self protection, blasting someone's kneecaps is still an extremely violent thing to do. and it will harm and/or kill the person.

I guess if you had an AK47, you could use it to loosen the soil in your garden... and if you plan on doing that... I will encourage the use of AK47's by all means. but once the primary use of a gun turns back into attacking someone... or even protecting yourself, I would definately be against it.

the forces provided by a gun far exceeds the needs of the general public. try using something a little less LIFE THREATENING to defend yourself.

I will, just as soon as criminals do the same thing. I will always meet aggressive force one level above it.

But, as long as predatory scum are out there using weapons to deprive people of Life, and their hard earned money, I will continue to pack my 9 mm.

If someone wants to harm me or my loved ones, why should not not hurt them in a very violent manner? They don't give sh!t about me or my family, but I'm supposed to care if they end up dead? I don't think so.
