Now that I have chosen the 7800gt over the 6800gs, ATI has this little baby over at NewEgg. The x850xt (HIS Hightech HX85XTQ256-3TOEN IceQ II Radeon X850XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card to be precise).

I can get a nice XFX 7800gt for around $270 after rebate while the x850xt is just under $200 with rebate. It's hard to find good info about the x850xt, especially as to how it compares to the newest GeForce cards, so what do you think? I'll tell you one thing, that x850xt is one BIG mother. The noise alone might be a problem, and I don;t know what that "Connection to the system power supply is required. The power supply should have a specialized 12V" exactly means. Do most new PSU's have this sort of connection?

7800GT : ! no question asked :)

X850XT AGP @ $200 then its worth it but if its PICE then not really :) as 7800GT has a condiserably huge gain in performance.

If you've already decided on the 7800gt, then just go with it. The x850xt is about 90% as fast on average as the 7800gt, so it's a good choice if you're primarily interested in the most bang for your buck. But the 7800gt is overall faster, and has some newer features, so if you plan on keeping the card for a year or more, the 7800gt would be a better choice in the long run.

That HIS hightech X850XT is an interesting card. It comes with an arctic silencer stock. Even though a 7800GT is faster, unless you game at extreme high res or really want to see what HDR looks like, it's not a bad card for the money because of the quiet factor.

If you're willing to give XFX a shot, HIS is probably not too scary.

My vote is to wait until EVGA 7800GTs are on sale again and pick one of those up if noise is not an overriding concern.

Price/performance winner would be the X850XT.

However, i'd suggest the 7800GT too, since you get newer features for not too much more.

90% of the performance for 72% of the cost. I can dig it.

Of course if you're willing to overlock a X800GTO2, it can't be beat for $179

The PVP on the 7800GT will probably give you a better upgrade path for decoders if you watch videos or they get embedded in games. The PS3 support may give you a performance gain too, so it may be the better route. If you plan to buy a new card every year, toss a coin.
