Also, it doesn;t matter which is hot and which is ground for the power-on switch, it works my momentarily closing the two pins together to enable a relay in the power supply. The problem is, if you short one of those two connects to the wrong other pin, bad things happen. If you are sure they are on the right two, then you could still have a stuck switch (allways on) and then it will never boot. I have seen that once.

ya, im positive its the right 2 pins, and am pretty sure none of the others shorted as i havn't touched them while the mobo had power. Any other way to short them?

Yes, first unplug the power supply to turn it off and plug it back in. Then find a very small screwdriver or other similar probe after removing the plug (the green and white one) and short the same two pins for just one little "tick". If the power supply comes up and fans start spinning, you did it right.

MAKE SURE TO SHORT ONLY THE TWO CORRECT PINS FOR POWER-ON !!!!!!!

Yes, thats why I keep using soo much caution in telling you. But if you had a bad switch, this would let you know.

whew I touched it and nothing happened...ah fvck...touched it again and everything powered up. bad news is..no go on the keyboard & a quick question: how do I power it down?

edit: i just plugged in the pwr switch and then powered down that way

update #2Ok, after being suggested, i plugged in some headphones and recieved a audio message saying "cpu failed test"

this means cpu not seated right? heatsink not seated right?

Maybe cpu not orientated right. Look at the picture of where the little dot can go. I think I screwed that up also the first time around.

Take off the heatsink lift the socket lever all the way take out cpu. Check the pins on cpu make sure none missing or anything. Line up the mark with the socket lever. CPU
should seat with ease then press lightly on it and close the lever. Then put the heatsink back on.
