Ok....I've been looking for a car CD-Player for the last two weeks. Today, I went to one of local circuit city store, and the salesman recommended an Alpine CDM-7874 CD-player... it looks cool (not the coolest, that honor goes to Pioneer IMHO), and it's within my price range (around $200). Initially, the salesman gave me the out-of-door price of $245 (installation included)......I stood there for a second...and then started walking out without any notice......the salesman called me back immediately..and priced me again for $220. I didn't bargain with him, (I am sure if I do, I could get it down to $210), I just nod and pay it with debit card. I think I get a pretty decent price, what do you guys think?

The price at circuit city was $189. I don't know how to install it, so I really need someone to install for me. It also needs some parts and kit to fit in my car (honda accord) so...I still think $220 is decent. Although I have to admit that etronics' price is really good.

I had some clowns install one for me at BestBuy. I figured there's no way they could screw it up, right? It was free, but you get what you pay for! Ugh! :frown:

I ended up doing it myself anyway. Should have done that in the first place!

Installs are usually pretty easy. There ARE instructions in the thing. All you really need to do is get the mounting harness and screw it in. I helped my friend w/ his install a couple of months ago, pretty easy.

but the thing is that I don't know how to take the factory stereo out 🙁

You can buy installation instruction(from how to take down your dash...) for your particular car from crutchfield.com for $5+shipping. Rings up ~$9, but then you will need adaptors, which cost ~$20 i suppose, if you don't want to strip wires.

You should ask if those CC punks connect the wires with connectors or just plain o tape. 😉

PS: I hope I remember the price right.

Well, that's $29 to spend.....I don't think I am really saving any $ by doing the installation myself.

"I was expecting a live discussion on this topic..."

You snagged a fair price for the unit, so there's not much to discuss there. They installed it for a song, so that's not much of an issue. Not much difference in quality within each price range, so what else is there to talk about? Now if you want to talk about annoying the neighborhood with a bumpin' sub... I'LL BE ALL OVER THAT! :disgust:

I've installed stereo's in my brothers '90 Accord and my '92 Accord. My brother bought his stereo from crutchfield, I got my stereo on the side of the street.

His came with the plastic crap to make it fit correctly without DIY jig-rigging, mine...well, came with nothing, so I made a bracket to strap to the plastic holder already in the accord (below the stereo) and made a bracket to screw to the back to mount to the stock mount at the back.

If you didnt know, you could have asked the CC people. they would have told you. The place that i go to is pretty cool about it. They even gave me free screws when my friend changed players dor the second time
