OK, Is my CPU now the problem?

My PSU blew a couple weeks ago, frying my 3.5 year old K7S5A. Hard Drive was fine, unsure about other components. I have a Duron 950Mhz in it with a Kyro2 AGP video card. Replaced the PSU and motherboard (got an Abit NF7-M with onboard video - this one is for the wife).

Put everything together tonight, but no post. I can't get into the BIOS even. Fans all spin up, CD Drive spins up, but nothing shows up on screen. The only things I have in it from my old system are the CPU and PC2100 memory stick. Haven't even installed the HDD yet. Gonna check the memory in my other system later, but my suspicion is the CPU. No biggie if it's fried, just wondering if my diagnosis sounds reasonable.

If it doesn't post its either the motherboard,CPU, or power supply. If it was memory, graphics, etc you'd at least get some sort of error code. Since the fans spin up and you replaced the power supply, its either the CPU or motherboard. Do you have any way to test another CPU in this new board?

I had a similar thing were i was fixing a comp that was acting exactly the same as that. How i found out what was wrong was by having a PCI Post card and it displayed an error telling me that the cpu wasnt even intitilizing. Then to be sure i went and took that cpu and placed it in a spare system and same result :)
My guess is it sounds like the cpu got toasted as well.

I had a problem like this. The fans all spin up, but no post. It turns out I fried the CPU somehow.

The Duron 850 is a 100MHz-based CPU. Many motherboards have a jumper to select 100MHz versus 133/166MHz FSB's, but the image quality in the .PDF manual is extremely poor and there is no mention of one in the text (that I can find, anyway). If you do see such a jumper... yeah.

Besides that, confirm that you've got the secondary ATX12V power plug hooked up (receptacle's just above the main ATX plug, so I doubt you missed it). If all else fails, see the second line of my signature for more tips. :)

There's no jumper for the FSB, and the 12V ATX plug isn't required (but is recommended, looked it up in my NF7-S\NF7\NF7-M manual). I vote dead CPU as well.

Yah, I considered the FSB, but saw no jumper. I do have the 12V plug in. Now I just gotta find a CPU.
