How the heck do I get out of here? This is the place where you can take over the mounted gun after you kill the Combine guard. There's a collapsed bridge and I can't figure out how to get out of this big drainage ditch area.

You go right up to that flammable can and shoot at it. 🙂

You go back to where the pile of rubble is, where the van and car is, if memory serves me correctly. Jump up through the rubble and you should be able to pass ( the opening should be on the right side).

looking from the mounted gun, on the right side (side of with the tank) there is a barrel on the wall. explode it and the support will fall down making a bridge for you.

OK, I figured it out...

Just have to hop and squirm your way past the wrecked van and tanker truck under the bridge.
