OK, I'm feeling suicidal ... what's the best way to CUT BRIDGES on an AXP?

I'm feeling dangerous. I'm armed with a multimeter, conductive paste, and nothing to lose - and I'm about to assault a Palomino XP2100.

If I kill it, I'm buying a Thoroughbred-B. If it lives ... well, then I rule.

Why would you want above 12.5 on your 1700? Shouldn't you be pushing the bus speeds instead of the multiplier?

My idea was to take something along the lines of a dull edge and gently "file" a gap in the bridge. Emphasis on "gently". The guys over at PCStats used a Dremel 270, but I'm not that ballsey.

He may not have the ram to take him up past 180, 180x12.5 = 2.250ghz, and he might try for say 13.5x180 at 2.43ghz.

Take a fresh 9V battery, wrap a wire's end to each of the terminals, and connect the other ends of the wires to needles and then use a magnifying glass and/or lots of light to touch each needlepoint to the "pads" of the bridge to blow it. Easiest and cleanest way I know of

Got a KG7, 760 Chipset. It'll max out at about 155Mhz and has only a divider max of 4.

Safest way is to gradually "wear away" material with frequent visual and/or multimeter resistance checks. Eye loupe/ other magnification helps.
Best tool for above is the finest pointed diamond coated rotary burr you can get your dentist to give you. Then epoxy into suitable tube and use like a surgical instrument or pencil with fingers motion only, heel of hand held steady on bench.
Diamond coated only essential for ceramic body Durons/Tbirds, any good abrasive coating OK for Palomino/Tbreds. But extremely fine point essential to avoid obliterating whole bridges.
Try Hardware/hobby shops if dentist is cheap.

I used an X-acto knife on my 1600, no magnifying glass or anything... just "cut" between where the bridge is buried, and go deep enough until you see a goldish color.

i cut THREE bridges on my xp1700+ tbred b to get higher mults for my a7v which maxxes out around 105fsb lol

what i did:
take a razor blade ( you konw, the flat shaving ones) and take a nice clean corner and wear away at the green/brown stuff in between the two golden dots

the first "slice" is most important as subsequent slices will just follow in the same spot, so make sure you do the first (or first couple) nicely

make sure not to cut any other bridges by slipping or whatever

cut down about 2 mm or so and you are done

He may also not have the MB to do it. My MB can't go above 150 because I don't have the right dividers and I think my radeon 9500 is holding me back.

Best way is with a 9 volt battery.

This is the absolute best way to do it. It is easier and safer, and I just love the cool little spark that it makes when you pop the bridge!!! I did a few of my L3 and L4 bridges this way when I hard modded my 1900+, and it was so much easier than cutting would have been.

What mult did you hardwire? I was thinking about 16 for my JIUHB0308.

It's for real. I've done it. It's the best way. I also recommend having some sort of cunductive pen so you can reverse the operation if you desire. I've done that too. It works well.
