hello
im running my own website from my home but its not really much
im using simple server so i pretty much cant do anything
i would like to know which is the best server software i can use
i also want to install php and stuff so people cant use a contact form and submit comments

look into XAMPP...dead simple, but I won't use it (not patched enough against problems)

For a low traffic site, you should be ok, but don't whine if you get hacked, PHP is a nightmare for security.
