A recall would be overkill on the drives. Even at 10X the average industry failure rate, you'd still be at about 12% to 15% of the total. Just make sure your customers are backing up regularly.

Russ, you and I both know that getting these people to backup is like a lost cause in some cases, do you think an advisory plus another strong reminder about backup would be enpough to protect me from a potenial suit for selling recommending/selling known defective hardware ?
