A recall would be overkill on the drives. Even at 10X the average industry failure rate, you'd still be at about 12% to 15% of the total. Just make sure your customers are backing up regularly.

*Groan* That was terrible.

My boss still has not learned the meaning of backup. He had a hard drive die on him and swore then and there he'd back up religiously. He even considered getting an external HD for that purpose. However, a few weeks later, the entire network was hit by a virus. Guess what wasn't backed up. Ugh.

Jean, from what I've read it seems the ones that are going to crap out usually do it fairly early on. Most of yours have been in place for a while. I'd just make sure all your customers data is backed up.

Russ, you and I both know that getting these people to backup is like a lost cause in some cases, do you think an advisory plus another strong reminder about backup would be enpough to protect me from a potenial suit for selling recommending/selling known defective hardware ?

The scary part is...there are actually a LOT of people who would probably fall for it too...even so called "techies".
