Ok i must be a retard. i cant install directx9.0c

Ok the sims is complaining about updateing directx.


I tried it off the dvd and nothing happened. so i downloaded the full thing and still nothing.

dxdiag says i still have 9.0b and the sims says the same thing.

what am i missing?

If you can't complete that, you either really suck @ teh computAr, or your Windows is borked. Badly.

BUT i'm afraid you are right. hmm maybe a re-install will do the trick? heh


OH CRAP! i can't do a re-install it won't let me. heh it says the windows version i wan tto put on is older so wont do it.

That's about all I've got, I'm afraid. It's not like you can just uninstall DirectX - at least not without causing serious peril to the OS itself.

Better off with a fresh start. Grab a case of :beer: and give it a shot tomorrow.

Does the executable run at all and do the setup process? If not make sure you're running as an administrator and make sure you've disabled system restore.

Reformat time?

A reformat is the last thing he should do.

whatever you do you cant fix it man i had the same problem some time ago what i did is i reinstalld windows Xp SP2 and directx.90c comes with it

ohh good idea. i will re-download sp2 and see if that works.

anyway! it worked! I now have directx9.oc and can now play the sims 2! wohoo!
