OK, I like games, but I like to know the rules.

My thread was locked, here:

Forceful insertion of a sharp pointed object

I am happy (see my name) to obey the rules when I know what they are and WHY they are. What's up? You guys just keep locking and deleting threads like the Ges...., no, I'd best not say that. It's probably a bannable offense.

Come on, you are going to have to answer some questions sooner or later. Why don't you just jump in here and let us all know what the problem is.

I have noticed that even words that have the letters S T A & B in them are not allowed. Isn't this going a bit too far?

Why don't you ban the words "liberal, conservative, semite, anti-semite, Muslim", or why not just ban all nouns, or all adjectives, maybe all conjunctions or non-sexual expletives.

Give us a break. At least explain why you are on this crusade.

I made a thread earlier asking why it was alright to insult Jews, but it's not alright to use the word st@b. It was promptly locked and deleted. I guess we know where the site administrators stand on that issue.

I read your post earlier and was about to answer when I thought I would like to gather a bit more information.

I still don't understand.

What the hell does *said word* mean anyways? I always thought it was some sort of sexual thing because they were always saying at the pics of babes, but then I read it actually meant jabbing them with something. I do not take any of it seriously, of course. I guess some people did though?

There are certain members who like to make outrageous remarks about Jews and it's tolerated. It's usually not for any other group of people, but for the Jews it is.

I was just wondering why that's the case and why using the "S" word was worse than that.

Hold up, folks. I didn't start this thread to slam the mods. I started it to ask why we can't know the reasoning behind at least some of their decisions. The censored "words" are a joke. When even the letters of the word are found in a larger word by the bot your post is kicked back at you. Censorship is a serious step towards totalitarianism. Does Anand want everybody on the boards to be happy little campers all the time? Can we not ask questions, attack positions and voice our opinions?

When questions get asked, the threads are deleted. I imagine if it were open to discussion they would give a response and not delete the thread. We are fighting a losing battle. Let's all just agree that this place has gone to pot and live with it or move on. I still say we should make nik the next Anand.
;)

With all due respect, I disagree. I don't believe in giving up on what I believe in until all avenues are explored and exhausted.

I don't view this as a battle. Who would I/we be battling with? Anand? The mods? All of us want a healthy AT where people can come to learn and teach, as well as to spout their opinions. Rules must be in place to keep thing from getting out of hand, or to keep Anand from getting sued by some arsehole. I believe, though, that the reasoning behind imposing the rules must be explained to the members who make up the forum.

Without a little give and take all of us will lose, both AT and the members.

Normally I'd agree with you. But there has been a definite trend here lately. I have been here since the "good old days" and I have never seen anything like what has been going on lately. I don't know if it's a reflection on a new way of thinking here or a reflection of society in general. But there has been a definite shift. I have learned here, I have laughed here, I am proud to be a member of this community. But what makes up this site has been lost. The members make this place. And as I said earlier we can love it or we can leave it. Some have left but I will stick around till the end or till they get tired of me and my opinion.

OK, this is what I am talking about. You can't even mention the damn word:

"You have a forbidden word in your message post. Please click the back button in your browser and remove this word from your post. The words that are forbidden are highlighted for you."

OK, I like games, but I like to know the rules.
I would much rather see the "in soviet russia" crap be banned. It has no meaning or usefulness. The letters which comprise the word "s7ab" on the other hand can express many things.

Nobody knows, that is why I am pushing the question.

Most words/phrases that become forbidden are because they have been abused within the accepted common sense of decency.

Then as other ways are used to get around the original blockage, it starts to become redicolus (sp).

However, the problems can be laid to immature adolencent behaivor or inflated egos which would not normally last out in the real world, face to face.

The annominity that exists on the forums allow abuse and should require extra restraint, however, the opposite is usually true.

To simplify this above large verbose wordy explanations.
