does anyone know why ESPN isn't coming up correctly for me?

espn baseball page comes up with the boxes on the side intruding on the text in the middle.

edit:

sorry it isn't the baseball page but the clubhouse page, for example the braves clubhouse page.

Yeah does it for me too :(.. Only page I've encountered in the months I've used Firebird that doesn't render correctly.

Basically, the people at ESPN never checked to see if that page was standards compliant, only if it would work in IE. The result is the little bit of ugliness you see here.

Works fine for me and I'm using Firebird as well. Although I installed the Flash plugin so who knows?

Just installled it, congratulations. Have a :cookie. Anyway, Firebird is an excellent browser in my opinion. Superior to IE, as a lot of people in these forums believe. If that site doesnt render correctly, then JetBlack69 is probably correct. It is probably optimised for IE instead of the correct, standardized HTML code. I hate it when people design their sites like that.....grrrr.....

That's the problem. People "optimize" their webpage for IE, so that it only looks correct in IE, they don't check what the page looks like in Mozilla or Opera. The problem is the lazy webmasters/designers.

Calm down dude. It's not working correctly in Mozilla either. The problem is, if ESPN would comply to the HTML standard, there wouldn't be a thread like this :)

Geez, calm down. I was just messin around with that first part. Wasnt trying to patronize you with it. I didnt think it was your problem with that site anyway. I've seen that before with a few other pages in both Mozilla and firebird. It is uncommon for that to happen, but every once in a while you do run into sites like that. It really pisses me off when people/companies/whatever don't adhere to industry standards when coding pages though, as I tried to express in my last post. It wasnt directed towards you, but I can see how it may have come across the wrong way though..

This whole thread is dumb, especially this:
you fvcking POS. STFU with your patronizing.

I'm running Mozilla Firebird, latest release (0.6.1), and everything works fine for me (the page displays just fine).I have firebird on all of my PCs and they all show it just fine. If it doesn't work for you then try reinstalling (after removing the old one of course).

Oh yeah, and if you find this patronizing please PM me with my flame :) .

Did you download the latest nightly build of Firebird? When I did that, the small problem I was having went away and was fixed in the new nightly version (not the problem you are having).

If that does not fix it then I would say that page does not follow standards. I run across sites like this from time to time. I just do a Google search and find the information I was looking for at a different web site, one that follows html standards. After all, it is not my problem that a web page does not support standards.
